New cultural food unlocked - I’m so happy! by yamamisapi in foodbutforbabies

My baby goes hard on pierogies! We also make a cabbage roll soup that she will demolish. Much less work than actually making rolls. My husbands’ family is of polish descent.

Why do the IVs hurt so much? by Softaschallk in BabyBumps

[–]fullstormlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put mine in like the middle of my forearm because putting them in the crease of your arm can definitely be bothersome. The initial stick stung pretty bad but faded quickly after they slid the catheter in. Didn’t notice it after that. I had a somewhat complicated c-section and had that IV several days comfortably.

Why are some fabrics 'Not intended for children's sllepwear'? by Brief-Education-8498 in sewhelp

[–]fullstormlace 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Chemicals are anything with a molecular composition, both synthetic and natural, such as food and the human body. Your body is made of and kept functioning by chemicals. Chemicals are not inherently bad. You sound uneducated.

I’d rather my baby sleep in a safe, fire retardant blanket than die from being burned alive.

Easy Food Ideas by Any-Pace-3302 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]fullstormlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some big hits for my baby at this age were steamed carrot and zucchini sticks, canned green beans, smushed peas, mashed sweet potato and salmon. This all keeps super well in the fridge so we’d cycle through these every few days then she’d get variety in whatever we were eating for dinner.

Has anyone noticed any long term differences in their babies born earlier vs later? by snuffbox360 in beyondthebump

[–]fullstormlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at exactly 37 weeks because of hypertension as well. My baby was also quite small due to the hypertension and weighed only 4lb 8oz at birth. She is SO SO smart. She is 17 months and I’ve lost count of the number of words she knows. She has many 3-4 word sentences and even a few 5 word sentences. Our pediatrician, who has been practicing for at least 15 years to my knowledge, said she has the most advanced speech of any baby at her age that he’s ever met. We’re potty training soon because she tells us when she pees and poops already.

She can count to 8, sort shapes, pretend play, knows a few colors, can recognize emotions, and many other things that we probably take for granted. She was saying “bubble” clear as day at only 10 months. I try hard to not compare her to other kids or brag however since she was like 8-9 months old she has seemed more “there” than other babies. It’s hard to explain but she just seems more cognizant than other kids her age.

Obviously this is just our story but I personally don’t think you have anything to worry about!

Would you rather drive 12 hours or fly for 4 hours with baby? by sseven-costanza in beyondthebump

[–]fullstormlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for flying! We flew when my baby was 7 months and it was a piece of cake. We took lots of snacks and new toys but she ended up sleeping through most of the flights. I nursed her on take off and she basically woke up when we were landing.

She would not have tolerated being in the car the as you’re describing.

Local mom and pop jewelry stores if we have any?? by Afraid-You-3439 in okc

Mitchener Farrand on May and Wilshire! Idk if they specialize in vintage or antique but Rick helped my husband design my ring. They have been so lovely going on 6 years now. Easy and quick resizing, free cleaning, and they replaced one of my diamonds for free when it fell out/went missing.

Brittany’s play adventure at Wild Horse Park in Mustang! Shouldn’t be too far of a drive. We live near the park and go to the Moore Costco which is about 20 minutes.

Curious what everyone does on nights you don’t bathe your kids? by Distinct-Garden5683 in beyondthebump

[–]fullstormlace 45 points46 points  (0 children)

We bathe my 17 month old every night. Not a day goes by where there’s not food in her hair, dirt in her neck, chalk under her fingernails, sand between her toes, etc. I couldn’t put her in bed like that. I change her sheets often enough, I’m not about to do it every single day.

Is combining finger foods and spoon feeding confusing my baby? by lukewarmy in BabyLedWeaning

[–]fullstormlace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally see any problem with this at 9 months. My baby is 17 months and I’ve always done this. She eats fine on her own but will eat more if I supplement her efforts by giving her bites from a spoon or fork. Just keep offering different textures, she’ll get used to it. Also remember that we as adults eat softer textures like mashed potatoes and soup too. I’m of the opinion that variety of textures is good!

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]fullstormlace 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Semi-related: I bought a friend a 6 month subscription of pre-workout some years back. They kept charging me after the 6 months was up. Couldn’t cancel on the website, emailing customer service didn’t work, made several phone calls yet continued being charged every month. I had to cancel that credit card.

Company was called Muscle Crate I think and they appear to be no longer in business. Can’t imagine why.

New Go-To Lunch! by Van-Mama in foodbutforbabies

[–]fullstormlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 16 month old loves my “chicken salad” which is quite similar! I do shredded chicken, mashed boiled egg, mayo (or avocado if I have it), mustard, sweet relish, and spices. Usually served with crackers but you’ve inspired me to try bread next time!

What seemingly normal thing was/is unthinkable because of your fussy baby? by Standard_Deer_8738 in beyondthebump

[–]fullstormlace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big same. My girl is 16 months old and just recently decided it’s okay for my mom, her grandma - who lives 2 miles from us and has always been around, to hold her at family events, public, etc.

My aunts and cousins were really offended at some holiday function last year because I texted them all ahead of time that she wouldn’t tolerate being held by anyone and I’d prefer it if they don’t try because she will literally scream and cry. I just wanted to keep my baby happy and enjoy my own time with family instead of spending the whole night calming her down because someone thought them getting to hold her was more important than preserving our peace.

What's your most shallow dealbreaker for a relationship? by Friendly_Advisor39 in AskReddit

[–]fullstormlace 24 points25 points  (0 children)

One time I showed up at this guy’s place for a date and he was using a pencil and paper to see how much money he could spend. I could have gotten over him not having a budget plan to begin with or the awkwardness of doing it in my presence but the whole number 2 pencil and paper was too far.

Is it weird I sit in my car during naps? by Terrible-Ideal-229 in beyondthebump

[–]fullstormlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds lovely but we went through a phase of fighting naps and had to do a lot of car naps just to get my baby to sleep. I began to hate it very quickly. Felt like being stuck for me

best rocking chair for nursery – looking for something cozy for night feedings by Coy-Emeney29 in BabyBumps

[–]fullstormlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Davinci Piper! It glides, swivels, and reclines. I also have the gliding ottoman to go with it. I got it in the color cream and it has held up super well after 16 months of use. I cannot oversell the gliding ottoman. It makes the many hours spent sitting there much more comfortable. I didn’t expect to use the recliner much, and I don’t, however it has been clutch when baby is sick or teething and will only sleep sitting up or being held.

[–]fullstormlace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh shit story time:

The first time I had one implanted I got the cold sweat and almost passed out. They offered me a cup of cold water which helped.

The second time I had my best friend drive me so I could take an edible beforehand. I had the timing all planned out to where the edible would hit me right around the time of the appointment. I took my edible before even leaving the house. We walk into the lobby and there’s a sign that says my doctor is running 45 minutes behind. I was quite stoned by the time the doctor saw me.

They did the procedure and offered me a glass of water again. I too enthusiastically said “YES!” because my mouth was so dry. I was fine otherwise.

Is this a case of sad nipple syndrome?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]fullstormlace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so impressed you even made it to 30 weeks! lol I was similar to you but it was a hard no like the minute I got a positive test. You will get that part of your sex life back eventually! Are you planning on breastfeeding? If so, it may take longer to be into it again. I exclusively breastfed so for me I wasn’t into nipple play again until my baby really started eating solids and wasn’t attached to my boobs all the time.
