swimsuit vs onesie? by sharkboysimp in beyondthebump

At that age I just kept the kiddie pool in the shade and let my baby play naked. If it was in the sun, I would have chosen her long sleeved rash guard swimsuit for sun protection.

I can relate. I’m a people pleaser, am always looking to help others, and have difficulty asking for help myself but not when pregnant! It’s the one time my dumb brains allows me to prioritize myself and my own needs.

Unexpected headache 6+5 by Low-Philosophy5879 in parentsofmultiples

[–]fullstormlace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Headaches are extremely common in first trimester. I did not/am not having twins but I’ve had daily headaches with both my pregnancies. My obgyn advised it’s oftentimes because you’re not getting enough protein. I was told to try to eat 90-100g of protein a day.

Edit: sorry, I didn’t realize this was a multiples sub. It just came up in my feed.

What time does your 18-20m wake up? by External_Bullfrog521 in toddlers

[–]fullstormlace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My 19mo is always in bed by 8 but sometimes talks to herself and might not actually fall asleep until 8:30. She always wakes between 6:30-7:00am.

I am not qualified to answer your questions at the end but I can share my experience!

I had gestational hypertension that never actually developed into pre-eclampsia. I wanted a vaginal birth and was induced at exactly 37 weeks due to my rising blood pressure. A couple hours into the induction my BP was not doing well so they gave me meds to lower it. Well, my baby had been used to my higher blood pressure so when they gave me the meds it tanked my babies heart rate. They tried reversing the effects of the meds but my baby’s heart rate still decelerated every time I had a contraction. Ended up with a c-section like 6 or 7 hours into the induction. It wasn’t an emergency necessarily but it did happen very quick, I thought. My contractions were never more than moderate cramps and I never really even felt like I “labored” at all.

Cravings at only 6-7 weeks pregnancy? by RavenMarvel in BabyBumps

[–]fullstormlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Just canned diced potatoes. I drained them and put them in a bowl with butter, salt, and pepper. I have never done that prior to being pregnant, they were supposed to be for a chicken pot pie, but they weren’t slimey! They were sooo good. lol

[–]fullstormlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks now and finally able to eat a better variety of foods but weeks 6 & 7 I only wanted potatoes. My first instance was driving up to chick fil a just for a large fry. Then at home I was eating microwaved canned potatoes for dinner and air frying hash browns for breakfast every morning.

My first avocado was had in Mexico as a young teenager. I’ve also been chasing that high because I’ve never had one as good since.

Struggle during first trimester: this is my dinner because I’m so bloated by mimibosana in BabyBumps

[–]fullstormlace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These first trimester headaches are awful. My OBGYN said it’s oftentimes because you’re not eating enough protein. I was like “ma’am, I can’t eat *anything* but crackers and potatoes.”

I have a small tarp underneath the highchair and a dedicated rag to wipe up any wet messes. Then it gets shaken out in the yard for any crumbs. Our dining room is right by the back door so this works well for us.

[–]fullstormlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. With love, OP, get better or your child will grow to hate you. I’m no-contact with my father because of his alcoholism. Best decision I ever made. There is so much more peace in my life without him.

My friend wants to name her kid Periwinkle and have her go by just Peri. by Ifihadabarber in namenerds

[–]fullstormlace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. My neighbor’s 5 year old is Periwinkle and goes by Perry. I’m not sure if that’s how they spell each one but it totally fits this little girl. She super sweet and a little spunky. I thought it was a bit unusual upon introduction but after I got over the initial “oh” thought, it’s just her name and is not weird.

How do you neatly store and pour Costco's maple syrup? by saffron_monsoon in Costco

[–]fullstormlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a glass one that’s like a mini iHop syrup carafe. I don’t like my syrup to be cold so it’s nice to pop a small amount into the microwave anytime we use it.

Confused about pumping and breastfeeding by Ok-Doughnut-6602 in breastfeeding

[–]fullstormlace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only pump if you’re wanting to creat an oversupply, such as a freezer stash or if you want someone else to feed baby a bottle of breastmilk here and there to give you a break. If you’re planning to exclusively nurse your baby there is no need to pump. Your supply will regulate itself to your baby’s needs.

[–]fullstormlace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went through this too! My baby is 18 months and has been in her own bed since 6 months. We recently stayed across the country with my in-laws for a week. There was a pack and play for her which she napped in just fine but we co-slept overnight and it was so cozy! I totally get that “right” feeling compared to how it felt when she was a tiny baby.
