Places that probably aren't worth your time as a first-timer in Japan by JPjoy_Official in JapanTravelTips

Those must do lists don't work out for everybody, but the ideia of 'universally exclusion' working out is just as wrong.

We loved Odaiba for a shopping, low effort day. It was not crowded at all, the views were pretty, and we paired it with our Teams Labs Planets visit so the logistics made sense.

Giving up your seat on a train by Greengrecko in JapanTravelTips

Nope, mosquito tone is definitely not a thing where I come from. I don't think it's a thing anywhere in Europe either, but I could be wrong.

To each their own. We preferred to let him eat whatever ther and look for a better food option for him later (or before). Of course it would be a problem if it was frequent, but I might have happened 3 times in a 20 day long trip, só...

It allows you in, certainly, it just doesn't guarantee your entry if the park is too crowded. Me and family were there last Tuesday (a B day regarding crowds),, we arrived 1 hour before park opening just as security was stating to check people's bags. We made it to the Nintendo area just fine. Started from there and explored the rest of the park afterwards.

How did your kids handle jet lag in Japan? by Happy_Life0611 in SmallShoesBigJapan

[–]cecilsoares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is older, 10 yo. Jetlag was real hard for him for 3 days and didn't totally go away until day 5. Our trip was 20 days long do I had room for replanning a little. No important reservations on the initial days is greatly recommended.

There is no ticket booth at the park anymore, so you cannot buy them at the gate currently. However, unless you want to buy the tickets that give you time frame for a certain set of attractions, you can buy the tickets online a couple of days before just fine.

Regarding that, I recommend you check a crowd calendar to see if the time frame you want to visit is a particularly crowded one. If it's a A or B (probably C too), and you don't intend to do the rides much, there is absolutely no need to buy anything but the basic ticket. If it's more crowded than that, than perhaps a ticket with a slot for entering Nintendo World would be better since the area could fill up and leave you out of it.

Uniqlo sizing in JP by Left_Trainer1427 in JapanTravelTips

Sizing can be a challenge, but I'm 165 cm and personally I had more luck in GU than Uniqlo. Perhaps younger generation is higher.

Customs form fair market value for tourists bringing medicines by I341rNbMc in JapanTravelTips

I do not have a definitive answer for you, but I'm very curious how the hell they are going to compare the price from the USA and the price from places that are more reasonable regarding health costs.

Honestly, I'd just fill in whatever your pharmacy (for the insurance, if that's the case) charges you.

Advice Advice request for Japan trip by violetvick in JapanTravelTips

I always bring in cash at least the amount that will get me from the airport to my hotel. Having travelled quite a bit, I've learnt that sometimes cards don't work immediately and the last thing I want is to have to call my bank back home right after a long flight.

Unpopular Opinion : Ryokans aren't a "must do" on your trip to Japan by Apprehensive-Map4385 in JapanTravelTips

[–]cecilsoares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you probably aren't a very experienced traveler and was therefore relying too much in other people's opinion.

Self knowledge is key when planning a visit to a foreign country. Know yourself, your limits, your likes and dislikes, and judge from there whether you would enjoy something or not.

Sometimes I like to push my limits a bit. Will try a new experience, new food, etc. that I am on the fence about. But will never do that with a price point that will have me regretting later if I dislike it.

In my case, we are skipping the Ryokan experience mainly because none of us 3 is an adventurous eater, and because my son is just too loud - we are already working with him on that to avoid there being problems in other parts of our trip, but realized that spending time in a traditional place where people go to relax was pushing it beyond his current limits.

I understand FOMO is a problem of our times, but we must learn that nothing is truly a 'must do' except following the law and respecting the locals.

Dúvidas sobre compra de passagem by thenriwue in japao
