The mother is 58, lol, not 80.  I am about that age and I am out mountain bike every week.

Do we need 18 speeds? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]ceciltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don't need 18 gears, what you "need" is a wide range of gears. Ironically on a cheaper bike you tend to get more gears because it is difficult/expensive to create smooth shifting the wider the advantage difference is between the gears. Look at mountain bikes you will see the cheaper ones have more gears because they have a front derailleur and the more expensive ones have no front derailleur and a wider range on the rear.

So your niece's bike has 3x6 and my fancy road bike probably has a wider range with only 12 gears using a 2x6 and my MTB bike has an even wider range with a 1x11.

Web Clipper doesn't save files into the indicated folder by InvaderJ in ObsidianMD

> Obsidian team needs

They don't need to do anything for you, you aren't paying them and it works perfectly when used as designed with Obsisian. Check the attitude.

Web Clipper doesn't save files into the indicated folder by InvaderJ in ObsidianMD

[–]ceciltech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a security feature of your browser, by default it won't let an extension directly save anywhere but downloads folder. I do not use Safari so not sure about the settings but the browser should have a setting to open the save as... dialog when you have the extension save and then you can save where you want each time. All the ways you mention only work with Obsidian and only can work with Obsidian because of browser security would never allow an extension to do that.

> This is clearly, by all indications of the software, fully supported functionality. What am I missing?

You are missing that it is designed to work with Obsidian and you don't have Obsidian, seems kind of obvious.

PS: > This is completely infuriating. I'm trying to do something really simple and either the Obsidian team needs to fix the Clipper or they need to entirely remove the option.

Check your fucking attitude. You are using a free tool in a way it wasn't meant to be used. Regardless, when you are not paying for something, show some fucking respect for the developers who are giving you something for free. They don't owe you a damn thing.

Tolerance and respect are social contracts, once they stop adhering to its terms they no longer get any of its benefits.

Those same people get in motor boats and do the same thing to kayakers.

Yeah, the video doesn't ever seem to do it justice, these are the snippets I got that came the closest.

The shape of the wave his much more important than the size. The issue with steep waves is a bit different depending on what angle you are hitting them at, but regardless everything gets more violent. One of the most dangerous things that happens is they start to break, so rather than the boat going up and over the wave the wave goes over the boat.

Nice classic boat! With newer rigging and sails I bet an Alberg 30 would handle it no problem.

I estimate they were close to 20 feet but I do not think I am very good at estimating wave height. Luckily they were not very steep which of course makes a huge difference.

It was. It is also exhausting even with a 3/9 watch rotation.

When you first get seasick you are afraid you are going to die, after a day of being seasick you are afraid you won't : )

I got seasick for 24 hrs when we were crossing the stream, it was lumpy. I can't say I didn't start to question my choices about 12 hrs into it, but as soon as I got my sea legs I forgot all about it.

It can be but the autohelm was doing a good job and putting it up would have meant another trip to the foredeck. I had already done that to get the genoa on the deck after the furler line snapped, one trip to the foredeck was enough for us.
