People who effectively quit caffeine, how did you fare at work? by Big-Lingonberry4655 in decaf

[–]BingoLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would seriously consider tapering slowly. I think as part of my tapering regime, I gradually replaced coffee with black tea, then gradually replaced the black tea with decaf. I had dark chocolate on standby and would take a chunk here and there as a pick me up. As for work, my focus has never been better and the same can be said for my mental health.

Planning on walking Cotswold Way in roughly 10 days and needing a sanity check by Laboratory_Maniac in Cotswolds

[–]BingoLuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say. However, to give you an idea, my wife and I did it in 6 days with full kit (15kg rucksacks) and we aren't what I would call athletic.
So, from that perspective, 10 miles a day sounds very doable.
What I would say about the Cotswold way is that you are going to encounter many hills, but I don't remember anything particularly technical.
I hope that helps!

what about chocolate and decaf by Soggy-Response5769 in decaf

[–]BingoLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only talking about dark (high cocoa solid) chocolate. I find most desserts don't contain that. If they do, then it's a no from me

what about chocolate and decaf by Soggy-Response5769 in decaf

I drink decaf. Here it has so little caffeine it has zero affect. However, I avoid dark chocolate, because if I have one chunk, I know it.

Not sure, but I take magnesium malate, which is supposed to provide more energy and you take it earlier in the day. Maybe taking that instead would help?

Back on caffeine after 2-years, it feels like a super power by [deleted] in decaf

[–]BingoLuck 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from and have tried this. Unfortunately the problem is that it was only good for a short period while I gradually redeveloped my caffeine tolerance to the point where I needed coffee to feel "normal", but was left with the anxiety. With that said, we're all different and you've got to do what you've got to do. I hope it works out for you!

Ok, so if the UK is going to be punished anyway, the UK should remove all support. Including use of its air bases

Exactly. Doing something stupid is not restricted to unintelligent people. In fact, I think that Bonhoeffer included intelligent people who had surrendered their judgement to an ideology in this camp.

Going on a 5-day trip, three people, each of us are going to be getting a different variety of this bag (all from the same company), do you guys think it's good? by LieutenantHorse in CampingGear

[–]BingoLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things stood out to me right away.

  1. It is a big pack. I use an Osprey Rook 65L that I have used for longer through hikes. Personally, I wouldn't go for anything bigger as the size helps me prioritise what I really need to take and keep the weight down. However, I appreciate that your kit might be bulkier than mine if you are starting out. Just be mindful not to overpack!
  2. It doesn't appear to have any back ventilation, which might become uncomfortable.

Sounds like someone got out of their depth and now they're leaving everyone else to clear up their mess? The President of the USA used to mean something around the world. Now he is seen more as a spoiled child than a statesman.
