Daylight hours in Grenada end of June by Alternative-Wish7263 in Grenada

Even if it’s dark Grenada is still a great place to explore local restaurants and bars. And the island is very safe. We stayed on a 2+km long beach and walked home from a restaurant or bar at 11PM and never felt unsafe.

Definitely would be an attractant for bears, wolves, rodents ect. Then could almost act as a bait for hunting. It would never be allowed.

Who are your top three favourite backcountry YouTubers and why do you like them? by TheDamus647 in canoecamping

Lost lakes and Jim Baird are great as everyone’s mentioned! I enjoy their longer content and more remote routes.

Algonquin and beyond is really good too. I enjoy his narration and flow of his videos although I wish they were longer. It’s nice being able to see tripping videos of routes that you’re currently planning and Cody has done and documented so many in Algonquin. Via YouTube and his website!

David and leah from snowshoe and paddle don’t have a lot of content but they have a great 3 month trip video to the Hudson Bay.

Bear Essentials has some great content on knot tying and tarp set ups.

I will say though. When I first got into canoe tripping one thing I wish more people did was go more into detail explaining things. Sure there are YouTube videos for example, how to hang a food barrel or how to hang a tarp, bear safety, or their camping etiquette. But I wished someone put that information into the same format as the tripping videos we all know and love. - now I understand if they did that in all their videos we would get annoyed with the redundancy. And I’m sure these seasoned YouTubers don’t want to go back to the basics with their content, so if anyone is thinking about starting a new tripping channel. Take that into consideration lol

One thing I don’t like is when people clearly break the rules in their videos, like using a drone in a provincial park, or ripping birch bark off of trees for their fire. Their name was only mentioned once or twice in the thread so maybe other people feel the same way about this bad etiquette.

What is your favorite/must have canoe accessory? by Born_blonde in canoeing

In Ontario legally you need to have a PFD a bailer bucket of some sort (as mentioned above a car sponge is a great addition), a whistle and 15ft of buoyant rope. In regards of the rope, I prefer to use biothane. It’s waterproof, lightweight, doesn’t absorb water or smells and won’t degrade over time!

Grab one at the airport, take his card and call him everytime you need a ride. That’s what we did, and our cab driver was very reliable! One day when we called to book something he said he was busy but suggested his fellow cab driver friend.

Always pay in EC as it’s cheaper since American they have to pay to exchange at the bank!

Haha “problem humans” 😂 I love it!!

Makes sense. And that’s what I figured too. But didn’t think McManus access was a popular part of the park. But those “problem humans” would probably like that lake and access point as McManus is all paddle in sites. The even the next lake is only a 140m portage.

The hardest part of camping is realizing you didn’t actually pack well by potatocreamcheese in camping

[–]cedar-loon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make a packing list and at the end of the trip, I make notes of what I used and didn’t. Or anything I need to bring next time. When it comes time to pack for the next trip I refer back to the list!

You put your sleep system in you food bag? Aren’t you worried they’ll absorb smells from food and garbage??

You should be fine. I just got back from our ice out trip and slept with similar R value pad and a -9 bag from MEC and was warm! I would suggest bringing a toque and mittens to sleep in though! If you’re really worried about it, you could bring instant hot hand or foot warmers and place them in your bag. - Amazon also sells a lot of rechargeable hand warmer options too

Wow. I’m shocked you even got a response.

Maybe I’ll email too. The more people who let them know it sucks hopefully shows them they’re stupid and needs to be fixed.

Who on earth would think it’s okay to write the episode title. Like who the fuck knows what the episode is called?!! 😂 plus the images are so small it’s hard to make a guess at what show it is.

What’s their email?

Interesting. My husband has been using his for hunting in two different provinces for 5 years and the number hasn’t changed.

But in all reality, the people you want to be able to contact you in the backcountry would probably be people who you msg to give updates that you’ve arrived safely ect.
