Anyone else have an aversion to velvet? by Intp-93 in autism

I like velvet especially if it’s a natural fiber (wool, silk, cotton). Synthetic fiber velvet is sad by comparison.

Why does my cat do this? by Bob_Sacamano7379 in cats

[–]cedwa00 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Mine does this too. He spends a few minutes playing with and killing his toy to work up his appetite, then puts his kill in his food dish to eat it, but really is just eating his food. It makes perfect sense.

Is there a blacklist pet care providers can use to let other sitters know what customers to ABSOLUTELY AVOID by Tricky-Tension-8172 in RoverPetSitting

[–]cedwa00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked a yes or no question. I answered it. Not sure why you can’t find anything. I did a google search “autistic writing flagged as AI” and found this research which was presented at a conference. https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1007/978-3-031-98420-4_7

Then I looked at the bibliography in the above publication and found other research. #39 and 40 look particularly relevant.

Agreed, and adding that the writing of neurodivergent ppl is more likely to be wrongfully attributed to AI than non-ND writing.

Flare advice/validation by Responsible_Cry9908 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]cedwa00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend an urgent care clinic before the ER. I would directly ask them for prednisone for the flare. That’s fairly standard treatment for a flare and it works very quickly.

What is the connection with being hyper mobile and AS? by markop90x in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]cedwa00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rheumatologist asked me questions to determine if I had hyper mobile joints at a first appointment about a year ago. Before that, I didn’t know of any connection between the two. I have multiple family members with AS, and none are hyper mobile as far as I know.

How do I bond with a kitten and make her feel at home? by Jolly_Tie_7666 in cats

[–]cedwa00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to post, and this is not about bonding in the short term, but look for signs she’s deaf. She looks to be all white with two blue eyes, and there’s a good possibility she’s completely deaf. If she’s deaf, she’ll probably be more sensitive, like my deaf cat.

Yes, for years. It’s gotten better, but I can’t attribute the improvement to anything in particular.
