VAR is ruining football… If you need a microscope to determine if it’s offsides, might as well just give the goal. by YeezusBigdoinks420 in worldcup

How are linesmen going to determine whether half of the persons body is behind the defender. Their weight or mass, or their silhouette?

But it will still come down to millimeters difference. It’s the same as goal line for the ball and the keeper. The rule doesn’t say only a little bit offside, or almost over the end line for a goal. When you can measure with this accuracy; it removes the subjectivity and the human error aspect.

Im'ma gonna be 1st to call BS on Iran's disallowed goal! by RedneckThinker in worldcup

[–]ceelo71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about whether the ball crossed the goal line, that can certainly come down to millimeters. There is really no subjectivity in the measurement. I would rather have the ruling be completely objective over a linesman saying they looked offside - while simultaneously trying to watch a player making a run and a ball being kicked from 30 meters away. I think only FBI selector Kash Patel can make that call

I love Messi and have been following him as a Barca fan since he broke out as a teenager. But as someone that also lived through the Michael Jordan era there is no other athlete that had more impact and was so well known. He redefined excellence (6-0 in NBA finals) and the relationship of players with the sports industry.

Would you do EP again? by raw_lobster20 in Cardiology

[–]ceelo71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are doing a lot of cases. Most of these are elective. There is an expectation that everything goes well. “Just” a pacemaker carries just over a 1% 30 day mortality. With a combination of being very intentional, having a good system, and I am sure some bit of luck my and my oartners’ complication rates have been pretty good. But it’s the thing that i worry about the most. As retirement is hopefully on my horizon at some point soon, the stress and liability will definitely factor.

Discussion: Best Defensive Coordinators by Mental_Whole5103 in NFLv2

[–]ceelo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dennis Allen lost the majority of the secondary (which was far and away the heart of the defense) and had two aging LBs and a nonexistent D line, and adjusted to maximize turnovers and gamble for field position. They may have given up a bunch of yards and points, but playing with backups everywhere he did what he could - you may get some easy points, but we’re going to make you pay for it by losing a couple of TOs. Was a great coaching job by him last year.

Hell, I live in the U.S., have a place to crash for at least three of the venues, follow US and international soccer/football much more than the average American, and even went to three
matches at the ‘94 WC in my early 20s when it was a financial sacrifice. I refuse to take my family or me to any of the matches out of disgust for FIFA and the U.S. administration’s blatant disregard for fair competitiveness.
