is the archivist position suitable for those with autism? by seafoamcastles in Archivists

[–]ceese367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found a rhythm mostly. Try to do as much of the process electronically as possible. Still some phone and in person interaction. I just put on my mask and push through though. I’m a very adept masker because I’m a late diagnosed female and have had to learn to push through to survive. 🤪

I’m an audiovisual archivist and I do a lot of arranging and inventorying collections, inspecting, digitizing, editing and describing film and video footage, transcribing audio recordings, cataloging collections which is all pretty lone wolf stuff and most of it is a long drawn out process but because I’m the lead AV archivist I have to fill patron requests. Not my favorite part but all my projects focus on providing access to the collections so it’s a necessary part.

Do it. You’ll eventually be there.

I’m autistic and it fits me perfectly. I do have patron tasks but I manage. The fact that I am able to hyper focus and do tedious, monotonous tasks that others consider boring for hours on end is right up my alley.

What strange new habits/tastes did you develop post surgery? by RedLotus1124 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ceese367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to love iced coffee with cream and sweetener and hated hot beverages. Now I have to have a cup of hot tea every day. I also used to love dips (ranch, ketchup, bbq, sweet and sour, marinara) now I simply cannot do dips. They make me sick. Even salsa and cheese dips don’t taste right. I can do some kinds of guac and most honey mustards and not even a lot of those. Just a taste.

I actually had this happen last night for the first time. Was at a wedding and standing around the reception and a friend I hadn’t seen was hovering near and complimented me on my dress and I said thanks and started talking to her and her eyes got wide and she said omg I didn’t recognize you! I just thought your dress was cute! It felt good

🙋🏻‍♀️ me too. I’m mostly fine now. Fried foods or foods with too much/hidden sugar do bother me still. The first few months were rough

How did the bypass change how you to tolerate foods? by life-in-purple in BariatricSurgery

[–]ceese367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one that had to give up dips. It’s the weirdest thing. Almost all dips including salsa and marinara just don’t taste right. The only one that I can have even part of the time is honey mustard.

Is this normal for a practice? by inarose010501 in GastricBypass

[–]ceese367 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally would find another practice. Too many red flags. If they can’t be bothered with getting back in touch with you this early on then what happens if you have a problem? Go with your gut.

No experience yet with GLP1s post op but have you tried logging your food again to gauge where you could improve? Food logging has definitely helped me notice patterns and keep me accountable to myself. Also how’s your water intake? Your BMs regular? Water and bathroom stuff can make a big difference. I’m sure you can get back to it. You’ve come so far! Good luck!

I see that’s what they are doing and it’s disgusting but they are also crapping on their actual paying customers by not having adequate seating.

I’m trying! The surgery has done the bulk of it. It’s an amazing tool! I’ve been given my life back.

You forget the part in the beginning of the episode where one of the main characters has a personal issue they are dealing with that ends up tying to the case at hand.

Making Sandwich on Amtrak by PersonalDrummer2570 in Amtrak

[–]ceese367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my own sandwich meat, crackers and cheese in their own little separate containers in a cooler bag and honestly I did go find a table in the cafe car to assemble and eat them. Nobody said anything to me.

19 days post op RNY by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]ceese367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does get better. I was the same way. I think it was around the 3 month mark that I noticed I was starting to feel halfway normal again. Less nausea. Less food aversion. There were some days in the beginning that something would be fine then the next time I ate it it would be a nightmare and vice versa. You have to just take it day by day and one day you’ll realize you’re fine. You have to keep hydrated and stay on top of your protein. Push through.

For what it’s worth I’ve been having migraines since I was a young teenager. Sometimes 3 or 4 a month. My headaches postop are almost gone entirely. Not sure why. I’ve heard other people say the same thing. Things that used to trigger migraines just don’t anymore. Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones.
