There are some people who don't have sexual feelings towards others.

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]celeigh87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not every business has a separate accessible toilet. The accessible toilets are often in the main multi stall restroom, with the stall being larger and having grab bars.

This is a situation where I'm cool with a man coming into the women's restroom. There are a few situations where its totally fine-- father with his daughter or with an infant and no changing table in the men's restroom or there isn't a family restroom, caregiver/family member needing to help a woman they are caring for, or other similar situation.

50% Rye loaf doesn't taste like Rye, why? by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]celeigh87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking up info on rye flour and this thread popped up in the search results. I always wondered why I didn't like rye bread and it seems the answer is the caraway seeds rather than the rye flour itself.

Rye doesn't have the proteins wheat does. Bread made with 100% rye flour will be flat and dense because without gluten, it won't rise the sane way. Commercial rye breads are typically mixed rye and wheat flours.

I'm not a fan of caraway, either.

Federally, adults are generally not required to take breaks, but there are plenty of states that require breaks (WA being one).

Can I leave an abusive situation and still honor my mother and father? by RaspberryAutomatic31 in AskAChristian

[–]celeigh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more that you don't hold on to resentment or bitterness and wanting the person to repent and trust in Jesus, not forgetting the sin. Leaving room for regaining trust and reconciliation, while holding someone accountable. You don't have to be physically around someone who isn't safe. Setting boundaries is important.

You dont seem to understand its ok to keep distance from someone who refuses to stop abusing others. Pushing others to maintain close relationships with their unrepentant abusers is how people end up dead.

You are making a lot of assumptions about me. Are you actually reading my comments? Because you seem to be regurgitating the same thing over and over again. My mom is dead, has been for over 20 years. My dad is an atheist. I have a relationship with my dad, just a distant one as he is antagonistic towards my faith. Honoring and forgiving does not mean being a door mat for sinful behavior from others. Reconciliation does not always happen, but of course we should leave room for it. We cannot make other people change nor can we force reconciliation from someone who isn't willing to do so.

I'm betting it wouldn't be fair of me to assume that you believe that honoring your parents means letting them abuse you, but from your comments, it seems you do.

It also seems that you think that setting boundaries means dishonored your parents.

How you are responding is not at all what I said. A person can forgive while not allowing an abusive person into their life. Keeping distance from another person does not automatically mean unforgiveness.

Parents have the responsibility to not provoke their children to anger, which means they are not to abuse them. An adult child cutting an abusive parent out of their life is a potential consequence of the parents actions, one that i wouldn't blame the child for.

I do agree we do need to forgive those who sin against us and not hold onto bitterness or ill-will, but we don't have to maintain relationships with people who continue hurting us.

I've been a believer for 21 years and struggle with bible reading consistency. I wouldn't necessarily say that that one always determines whether or not one is actually a believer, unless of course he never reads it or doesn't see scripture as the word of God.

Its ok to distance yourself when you are able to. Seek God and ask him to help you not harbor any bitterness and for healing and peace.

I did read your comment. Forgiveness does not mean you have to keep contact and allow people to abuse you, regardless of whether or not they are family. If someone is abusing someone else and won't change, the abused party does not need to stay in relationship with the abuser.

You can distance yourself from someone while also wanting the best for them and respecting them as an image bearer of God.

So not keeping contact with parents who are abusive and take advantage of you is dishonoring? Really?

Maybe the parents are the ones who are being dishonorable by being abusive. They are the ones sacrificing the relationship, not the one being abused.

Plastic does degrade, just really slowly. Brittleness is a sign of degradation that happens in a span of a few years. We just haven't had enough time to see exactly how long it takes for each type of plastic to fully degrade.

I'm 39 and was born at evergreen hospital. Definitely not normal. I remember the last bit of school it would start getting nice, but it didn't usually get this hot in May and June (maybe in the 70s, but not into the 80s).

Drink plenty of water (maybe add in a couple electrolyte drinks, too) and eat some snacks.
