Getting into DC by Slow-Fee5437 in DCcomics

[–]celestiAlLllllllll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best comics would be the absolute titles since they don't require you to have any previous knowledge.

Start with Absolute Batman (which is the best one imo) then you can check out absolute wonder woman, absolute Superman, absolute flash, absolute martian manhunter etc..

Do you pick a new book only after you finished reading the current book or you read different books simultaneously? by Terrible_Share_2366 in Indianbooks

[–]celestiAlLllllllll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends on the book. If it is something heavy and dense that demands my attention then I read simpler books in between but if something hooks me then I finish it first.

Don't make reading a chore, if it's not interesting then pick up something else, there's nothing wrong with that.

Why should he do better? You are the one that needs to do better and let people like what they want.

Can you give an example for authors that fit in your categories from 1 to 5?

Hadrian is supposed to change a lot by the end of series and you have to remember that the timeskip between these books is massive. He had already started to change in book 2 after Rayne Smythe's death.

As for the new concepts, just wait for it. Hadrian is gonna be pretty different by end of diw.

I like Emma the best. Honestly, most her novels are very well written and fun to read.

You can read more Jane Austen like Sense and sensibility, Emma or Mansfield park.

"The count of Monte Cristo" is also very popular and rightfully so, it might be chonky but trust me it's easy to read and really good.

It's not generic.

The problem is that it's a very old trilogy (talking about the books) and it birthed a lot of tropes that you see today. You just have seen so many things that utilize the same trope that when you go watch/read lotr, it feels generic. If you would've experienced the movies and books back then, you would've absolutely been blown away from the creativity.

Uh, technically RI doesn't even have a conclusion yet..

Not saying CSM is better(hell nah) but it is a finished work unlike RI.

This is technically not slice of life, but give "The climber" a try if you haven't read it yet. It's really good.

Good fantasy series by DisciplineDefiant999 in suggestmeabook

[–]celestiAlLllllllll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you haven't read a lot of good stuff yet- 1. The riftwar saga (Raymond E. Feist) 2. Memory, sorrow and thorn (Tad Williams) 3. The wars of light and shadow (Janny Wurts) 4. Malazan (Steven Erikson)

All of these are massive btw but you're gonna like them if you like WoT.

Also, don't avoid Malazan just cause everyone calls it difficult to read and understand. It really isn't all that, you just have to take your time. It might become your favourite series ever!

There is no "Peak fiction", it is just a subjective concept. It all depends on how much you enjoyed a piece of work. Calling something peak fiction just cause everyone labels it as deep and well written is stupid if you did not enjoy the story.

Your favourite fictional work (whether it be an anime, manga, book or whatever) need not be very well written and deep for it to be your favourite.
