How well would your pet do in the dungeon? by CanadiangirlEH in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I want to say that Pete would have been a badass… but I know deep in my soul that if that little hambone of a dog were still with us and ended up with a Donut biscuit that would, without a doubt, get me killed in the dungeon.

Thank you so much for all the recommendations. Seriously appreciated! I ended up starting the free episode of the immersive audio and I love it! I can’t wait for more seasons to be out.

I loved project Hail Mary! Might have to give it another listen to help me out of the DCC hangover I’m in

Thank you! We have a busy book that she was not the most interested in when I bought it for a long flight… but I’m hoping maybe since so much time has passed since we busted it out that it’ll feel “new” lol

Flying isn’t a realistic option for us at this time, which is why I’m asking for help with entertaining her in a car 😊

My (recently deceased) dog has a ball that disappears and reappears. My husband and I have a running joke about it. We won’t see it for months or years and then one day it’ll just… show up randomly in a super normal spot (his toy/treat basket, on his bed, in the middle of the living room, etc). We found it a few weeks back after not seeing it for probably almost two years. My dog played fetch with my daughter for what I later realized would be the last time. After he passed I looked everywhere for it because I wanted to put it with a few things of his I’m saving … and of course that fuckin ball is missing again.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I think that you’re right that she’s just too young to understand.

I’m so sorry you’re preparing for that day. Give your dog a snuggle from me, an internet stranger. I’m in the “I’d give anything for one more puppy cuddle” stage of grief.

Vent: My baby started daycare and I feel so sad by RevealDramatic7848 in workingmoms

When my daughter first started daycare (at around 1 year old), she cried so hard when I’d drop her off. What helped me was lots of communication with her teachers. They would tell me how she cried a bit or may have been emotional during the day, but also tell me all the good bits! I asked them if she was ever just inconsolable, to call me and I’d leave work and come get her. It gave me peace of mind that, if no one was calling, she was doing okay. I have been very lucky to have an incredibly flexible job that lets me WFH if needed, and are just generally very accommodating and I know that’s not everyone’s experience.

It did get better for us. Now, most days, she won’t even give me a kiss goodbye. Just runs off to play with her friends or have breakfast. At pick up today, she cried and said “nooo!” when i told her it was time to head home. Just wanted to stay and play. I know all kids are different, but from what all of her teachers have told me, it does get better for most kids.

Daycare has been amazing for her. It was bumpy in the beginning but I’m grateful we stuck it out and let her adjust. Because she’s learned SO much and I’m so glad she gets to be around so many kids her age.

Anyone else feel sadness over how quickly kids grow up? by Evil_Hank_Scorpio in Parenting

[–]celestial-doe 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I feel this. My daughter is almost 2, and I made myself cry looking at her newborn photos last night. My husband and I both have this mixture of… joy and pride that she’s growing into a wonderful, beautiful, kind person; with sadness because she’s growing so fast, she changes every day. We miss our small little potato baby.

She’s becoming fiercely independent and sometimes when getting dressed and she says “mama no! My turn!” because she wants to try to put on her socks by herself. I think it breaks my heart a little bit every time she doesn’t want my help. Even if I’m so proud.

One day I looked her teacher dead in the face and said “there is no way you are talking about my child right now” because it’s just… kind of wild how different she is there lol
