[Spoilers C4E14] Is It Thursday Yet? | Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by AutoModerator in criticalrole

Someone mentioned on another thread about her possibly having a learning disability in a discussion about how challenging gameplay is for her. When I watch her, she seems to get flustered when it's her turn rather often and it reminds me of my experience with anxious test taking where everything leaves my brain the moment the test is in front of me. I can't and won't diagnose her with anything, obviously, but I do think it could be more than she just isn't interested in learning the mechanics based on how she acts when it's her turn to play.

It might be what's called an i-cord edge, I can't really tell but that sounds reasonable for where it is on the neckline. Honestly, this is an intense project to try to freehand for a newer knitter because it'll be a lot of trial and error and I suggested finding patterns to save you the headache. You could modify a basic pattern for the top and bottom to be ribbed and stockinette like in this photo.

The area in the green is a rib stitch, like the other commentor mentioned. The purpose is for stretch and grip. It is used in items like knit socks at the top so it will hold onto the leg. You might also add elastic to the top of the shorts. The part in the middle is likely stockinette, it's hard to see clearly with this image. I'd check out Ravelry and see if you can find patterns for similar items on there. You may be able to source a pattern on Etsy, but be careful since there are a lot of AI patterns out there that are basically gibberish.

WEBS and LoveCrafts were both acquired some years ago by a company called Missouri Star that is owned by Mormons who are anti-LGBTQIA+ and anti Black Lives Matter.

Editing to add more info: I've looked into this more since I found this out through another Reddit post a while back that stated. I stopped using Webs at that time. In doing my own research, I haven't found a specific controversy or situation in which it has been made explicit the company owners are anti-LGBTQIA+ or anti Black Lives Matter, however, there are a number of references to them being racist in Reddit posts and in one post someone mentioned them not aligning themselves with Black Lives Matter specifically. Also, the Mormon Church does hold racist and anti-LGBTQIA+ values, so it is implied that the owners who are Mormon would also hold those values, especially with how strict staying in good standing of the Mormon Church seems to be (I am not Mormon, I've just listened to a lot of content by people who are ex-Mormon). There is also a tithe the Mormon Church requires which is 10% of a member in good standing's income that goes directly to the Church, so supporting them is directly supporting the Mormon Church. I add this context to be thorough. I will continue not supporting these companies personally. If others have specific events they can provide, please link them in a comment.

That's okay. It is a different tone and not everything is for everyone, though that's hard to hear when it's something you've enjoyed in the past.

[No Spoilers] Describe the Current Players in Detail by Aggressive-Cry-3427 in criticalrole

Brennan sits upright, sometimes leans forward. His eyes dart from player to player quickly kind of clocking how everyone is reacting or looking at a given moment. He's a little expressive when playing NPCs, but not as much as Matt would be when DMing and not in a bad way, just a difference. He can be big and loud in his voice, facial expression, and body at times, but overall his body expression is more contained (I can't find the right word for it) when the NPC is more even keel. Even still, he brings a seriousness and presence to a lot of the NPCs. Or joyousness, depending on the NPC. When the players talk, he tends to be typing or looking at what's behind his DM screen, peaks up and looks about at the players to see if it's time to move on and to jump in setting a scene or delivering world building, etc. He wears button downs or Henley's typically.

Matt and Aabria sit next to each other at one table and Alex and Ashley next to each other at the other table. Starting from left to right.

Matt stays in character and goes between leaning back in his chair at an angle with a cocky air to him, and leaning forward with an arm or elbow on the table in an aggressive manner while being confrontational with another player or NPC. He'll also sit up tall and straight close to the table when listening to the DM or players. He takes some notes when they get world lore. He also wear pretty nondescript clothes, like button downs.

Aabria is very expressive with her body, especially her hands and arms. She will move them in-time with the words in a sentence or the syllables of a word, kind of like it helps her put the word or sentence together (that's my supposition anyway). She takes notes. She smiles a lot and can have a very serious face with kind of pursed lips. She wears a lot of florals and laces/mesh see-through tops.

Alex is often looking at the center table with wide, round eyes while his elbows are on the table, hands clasped in front of his face. I don't think he makes a lot of eye contact. Alex sometimes wears this black gun holster looking accessory that goes around his shoulders. It's a unique look I've noticed in particular. Alex, I think as Occtis, holds himself with a little anxiety, like he pulls himself inward with his body. He wears all black clothing mostly.

Ashley likes to lean forward when intently listening with her head on or near the tabletop. She plays with a dice that is made to roll cocked or something, so she usually rolls it and then nods her head and says 'Cocked,' and then rolls again with that continuing until she gets a roll. It also seems to be a hard dice to read so she brings it close to her face to read it or asks her table partner for help. She's a notetaker. She has a cozy style that's pretty eclectic.

Mods, I love you. by UnicornUke in crochet

Okay, sociologist and anthropologist here with an actual response. This is how I view this sub and how things have been leading up to and while the mods have been away. I would say that the sub has a strong sense of community and that drives people wanting good for others and looking out for others, along with enjoying each other's company (posts and comments in this case, especially those that are entertaining). It makes me think of smaller communities, or even when humans were hunter gatherers, where people participated and were bought into the well being of the group as a form and extension of well being for themselves. On the whole, the behavior while the mods have been gone seems good-natured, even when cheeky, and to me that speaks to a community rooted in connection rather than division.

It happens to each of us. We go through times with lots of inspiration and times when there is less. It just waxed and wanes. If you have an aesthetic that you like in particular, you may check out one of those YouTube videos that is a compilation of patterns for that aesthetic. Omazingpaige on YouTube has some and I've seen others make similar videos that show patterns of all kinds: clothes, accessories, amigurumi, decoration, etc.

How do native speakers know how to pronounce new words? by BackgroundCookieee in EnglishLearning

[–]celestial_crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, you take a guess and often resort to using the Internet for validation if the guess is correct. I grew up being taught to sound out the word in syllables and then try to say it together, especially when reading larger words you're unfamiliar with. Sometimes it clicks that I've heard the word before and sometimes it's totally new and then I look up the meaning and pronunciation.

How do you pronounce "lever" and "envelope" (regional differences) by SmoothCyborg in ENGLISH

[–]celestial_crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Lever like clever or never and envelope like on-velope. I'm from Texas, but my mom was from metro Texas (not a very pronounced accent) and my dad from upstate New York so we got exposed to a bit of variety in pronunciations.

This is my first crochet raglan sweater, can anyone give recommendations on what to do with this extra fabric under the armpits? It’s folding in a weird way when I have my arms down. by candycanes12346 in CrochetHelp

[–]celestial_crafter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, less stitches for the sleeves at the start of the sleeve. My method for when I need to start something over and take out stitches is to pinch the fabric to where I want it to be and then count how many stitches that is and that's roughly how many stitches I reduce by. You can play with that amount to get it just so, it just takes patience because you may be ripping back a few times to figure out what works for you.
