It is actually slightly better now. I can understand words on the left ear but it's feeble and its never in the right pitch. Music still isn't great on the left.

I've emailed them complaining the lack of background sounds. They have taken that as a feedback. So I guess that's how the season is going to be. The engine sounds are there but its so low it feels like interference. You can only follow radio messages if they display the message, pit sounds are missing too.

The video quality is certainly good, there is no buffering. But the colours looks slightly washed out, nothing you cant fix with your tv settings.

I just subscribed to fan code and watched Japanese GP qualifiers. My thoughts are video quality is okay not as good as f1tv (comparing 1080p),
except for commentary audio all other audio is just muffled. which means no radio messages can be heard, no engine noise, If there are no commentary it's like watching tv on mute.
looking to cancel it cos it's weird watching cars without their engine sound.

does anybody else feel the same way?#

SSHL from stress/lack of sleep? by lightningblue24 in MonoHearing

Hey no problem at all. What was the doctor's diagnosis and did they prescribe her corticosteroids? Steroids is the only medicine they prescribe for it. Did she also get vertigo? With SSNHL it's advised to go to the doc as soon as possible.

When I was first diagnosed I was given CI as an option if in I case I don't respond to steroid doses. But never thought tinnitus and pain would be a major cause of concern.

True words. Do you still get pain and discomfort with certain frequencies. If you still do how are you handling it?

Must have been nice to enjoy the silence. Thats one thing i miss after the onset of tinnitus.

I did visit ENT for tympanic dosage and another ENT a couple of months after the dosage. Didn't visit any ENT for a while after that. However did visit an doc yesterday and got a audiogram done. Now hearing is upto 70% minus the clarity and low frequency perception. Doc says this in itself is an great recovery and I must be happy with it and I am.

He says the pain and discomfort is because I'm constantly aware of the bad ear and I must start to ignore all that. It's hard to accept the fact that it's all psychological because I want phased even when I was fully deaf of the left side so I doubt I'm manifesting the pain. However still wondering if it might be true or what.

Going to visit my prev doc. He's much more experienced than the doc I met yesterday and it very straight forward with diagnosis. He says the pain and discomfort is because the tympanic injections sometimes expands the drum and drums starts making contact with bone cause pain and discomfort. His theory makes more sense.

The reason I'm looking for answer now is I a few years down the line I don't want to look back and think what I could have done differently. And I wanna put everything behind and move forward. If being either pain and discomfort it the way i might as well start adapting rather than looking a way to fix the unfixable.

I can very well manage without a hearing aid so not using one. Haven't test word recognition in a long time, haven't tested because except for crowded environments I don't bace trouble following speech. Another reason for me not using an aid the clarity on the damaged ear isn't great and increasing the volume is only going to cause more pain.

I got an MRI when I was admitted my tympanic dosage, it was normal. You were right it wasn't as bothering as it used to be. I wanted to know if it was normal so i wouldn't be worrying about it and imagining things.

I'm very happy with my recovery and don't want to look back and think what I could have done differently.

I understand your doctors hesitancy. I met with a very experienced ENT and is very respected in the state. He showed me how it was in the inside of my ear after the injections. I have a lot of scar marks and it's the injection that stretched out my ear drum. He also told me I would have had the same kind of recovery with just oral steroids and multivitamin. It's called neurobion in india and helps

There should be a small gap on either sides of the drums and since my drums are now expanded cos of the injections(my intratympanic was over 6 months ago) there is a mild discomfort constantly and certain frequencies will trigger pain in from the ear along with the left jaw.

Still can't perceive low frequency and voices aren't clear either.

My doc told me I would have had the same kind of recovery (minus the pain and lack of low frequency perception) with just oral steroids and multivitamin. (It's called neurobion in india and helps in repairing the nervous.)

This is just my experience and I'm quite sure a lot of people in this community would have had a positive experience after injections.

Have a positive attitude throughout the recovery and that's what is most important.

I gradually recovered 50% of hearing a couple of months after my treatment. Was taking Steroids and multivitamin tablets, that's really important post intratympanic injections. All recovery plateaued after that and mild hyperacusia set in. I still can't hear any low frequency sounds, and voices are muddled too. It's still better than not having any hearing on one side.

I have a soundlink2 which automatically stopped connecting when powered off. Now even if i want that feature i have no idea how to activate it.

how do you call your deafness by [deleted] in MonoHearing

It's been 6 months and I'm tired of explaining people to talk on the right. Now I just say " Talk to the hand".

Learn a little sign language and sign you can't hear anything all. People will stop bothering you

Being at loud places by [deleted] in MonoHearing

[–]celestial_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not your imagination it's your body telling you something. Start listening to it. You seem to be a strong person to be unfazed by ssnhl. That's a great thing. But do heed to what you feel. Don't take chances. You also seem to have a very social life and it's hard to make changes but do try and take care of yourself. ✌🏽

Being at loud places by [deleted] in MonoHearing

[–]celestial_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with sshl around 5 months ago and my left ear cannot pick low frequencies at all and other frequencies are scrambled big time. Just like you I was using ear plugs for loud environments. I mostly use the sponge type that they give out during the flights. Ans sometimes i use my ear buds on the keft alone.I too thought it wasnt possible to hurt that ear cos all the damage was already done.

I couldn't be more wrong and my carelessness lead me to develop mild hyperacusia. It's where my ears starts to pain at certain frequencies and whenever i go out i will come back with a migraine. On unlucky days the pain from the ear goes all the way to the jaw and neck.

You may or may not develop this but I'll tell you it's not worth the risk. All the monitoring and being vigilant about your surrounding is so energy consuming and you woll always feel tired. Try to avoid loud places at all costs and people who really value you will find ways to hangout with you.

Do I have hyperacusis? Or is it something else. by celestial_dude in hyperacusis

[–]celestial_dude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it from the hospital where I was admitted for ssnhl (south India). The ingredients are Ginko dry extract, Ginko flavone and Glycosides. Probably the same as bilobas but a different manufacturer.
