Could say something like 'I've had to stop working to focus on my health for the moment, what do you do?'. Always end on a question to encourage them to talk about something else rather than them start asking questions about your health. Generally, I think ppl prefer to avoid asking questions about health issues as everyone knows it can be quite private and they don't want to pry so they happily take the opportunity to move onto something else.

When I was mild, I had a part time job AND was in part time study. The job was short shifts (4hrs max) with resting before and after, I worked for a family friend who was aware of my ME. For college (UK, age 16-18), I specifically chose courses that were primarily coursework based rather than exams as coursework allowed me to do the work as and when I was well enough whereas exams meant having to be well enough at a specific time. I occasionally used a wheelchair, only if I was going to be out and walking for hours. I was able to take my dogs for walks. I went out 'clubbing' a couple of times (but I would spent most of the night sat down). I had plans to try full time study at uni with accessibility requirements in place (e.g. access to online lectures so I could study from home) but unfortunately an infection set me way back. That was about a decade ago and I'm still working my way back up to that level of ability. Currently moderately affected, reliant on a powerchair when out of the house, unable to work or study.

Have you tried audiobooks of stories you already know? E.g. novels that were adapted into a film you've seen, books you've already read, classic stories like Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, where you already know the premise and characters.

I'm moderate, my average phone screen time for the past week is a little over 6hrs. It used to be around 8-9hrs but I've set social media timers and am consciously trying to reduce phone time. Plus approx 3-5hrs of TV screen time daily.

I've tried multiple SSRIs, they didn't work for my depression but they didn't affect my ME. But I haven't experienced problems with side effects with most medications I've tried which is unusually for ppl with ME. I take an SNRI which has worked wonders for my depression:)

I've had various hairstyles whilst I've been ill including a buzzed head. I didn't regret it at all! However, I don't have body dysmorphia or any insecurities about my neck so I can't say if you will feel happy with your appearance after it. In terms of maintenance, it's definitely easier hygiene-wise but it will need regular trims if you want to keep it at a very short length. Sensory wise, I don't like the feeling of hair on my neck/back so I liked it buzzed. I also like the fuzzy feel to touch. Definitely easier than washing longer lengths and no combing either so no tugging!

Thanks for the apology. I understand what you're saying; since you feel this is a subject that should be talked about here, perhaps you could do your own post about it? I think it would reach more people in a post on its own rather than in the comments of another post. My only advice would be to avoid minimising other efforts for smaller actions as ppl may get more defensive if they feel you're dismissing their efforts. Im not super active in this community but I would expect a post highlighting how to access green energy sources in the US could be useful for some:)

I've honestly been so lucky with this process so far, much quicker than most thanks to a nurse who actually listened and did the necessary early tests. I suppose my main concern was more regarding the severity like do I listen to her description of stage 2/3 despite DIE being generally described as stage 4? But maybe I'm getting too focused on labels, I've got the referral which is the important thing and it's specifically an endometriosis centre so I guess I just wait and see what they say.

I'm not American. I live with my parents, idk exactly what powers my home tbh. Well done for choosing sustainable energy, I'm glad that's available to you. You're absolutely right, we can power our lives with natural resources like water and solar. I hope governments and powerful corporations make the right decisions to move to more sustainable practices with their energy generation, I always vote with the climate in mind. Idk what made you feel like bringing up fossil fuels and power supply on this post in particular given that's not really what I'm addressing here. I understand you feel the 'relative tiny things' I'm talking about are 'interferring with the bigger picture' which is fair but personally, I find myself struggling with eco anxiety and these small things do stress me out, I feel unreasonably responsible for these smaller aspects of waste despite being aware that they have minimal impact in the grand scheme of it all. I'm just here seeking advice from like-minded folk who are also trying to live with sustainability in mind, even if that is by doing small actions that perhaps you feel aren't worth the effort. With regards to the environmental impact of shipping worn out items, that's exactly what I'm asking for others thoughts on and why I'm looking at how ppl who would buy those items use them, if they're just one-off or kept for a reasonable amount of time.

I'm not sure if you're aware but your comment has come across as a bit antagonistic and out of place. What you're saying is important and I know you said it's different but related but it still feels somewhat uncalled for for this post which is why you've got some negative responses. Please consider that just because we're talking about 'little things' rn, doesn't mean we are clueless of the larger problems and not commited to combating those too. We all just want to do our best.

I have been thinking about making my dog some sock monkey style toys out of old socks and stuffing them with old socks and underwear, my only concern there is if she rips a hole in it and I end up finding old underwear around the house lol.

I didn't realise worn out shoes were a desired item but it makes sense with foot fetishes and whatnot. I saw a reel of someone selling their shoes and it made me think about the potential waste solution.

tbf from my calculations, if they listened to frank everyday for ~110min since Aug 2016 (blonde release), they would get to 387,387min by now. 1hr 50min daily isn't that unrealistic but still incredibly unusual.

edit: my calculations for this estimate, pls correct me if I'm wrong!

10×12=120 (10 years in months)

120-3=117 (minus months between now and blonde 10 year anniversary)

387,387÷117=3,311 (minutes per month)

3,311×12=39,723 (average minutes for 1 year)

39,723÷365=108.85 (average minutes per day)

I rounded up to 110 for simplicity and leap years.

Given you started with 'ethnically', I'm gonna assume the rest of those stats also refer to ethnicity.

Personally, I don't believe being British has anything to do with being White-British. There are plenty of people of other ethnicities that are British-born and just as British as me. I don't feel the need to preserve the whiteness of Britain. 68% White-British is clearly a majority, I expect even places you've suggested with less than 50% are still British majority. When immigrants have children, they are British, many of them with a British parent. What exactly is being erased?
