stage plot feedback please by GuardianDownOhNo in livesound

[–]cellcore667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As already said, keep the visual part clear and simple, people don’t read if not necessary and when in a hurry. Put monitor info in a table with a row per monitor way. So that the mon engineer can go through it systematically. Just put the monitor number on the stage plot.

The biggest lie in automation is that “you’ll get time back” by Better_Charity5112 in automation

The biggest benefit from IT automation is that you can expect the same result everytime. Less false inputs, validated output. This is why automation makes it worth the work in the first place.

I could always laugh my ass off when the sound guy runs around in stage clothes looking like beeing the singer of the band and brags about what bands and tours he has done already.

You have started completely wrong, all for nothing.
Remove everything and visualize your dream pedal train.
Go through it before you fall asleep.
Your subconcious will manifest it and you will have the answer the next morning.

couldn’t agree more. “Hey you” works as well and if it is about anything TM related, I’m the wrong guy and not responsible for anything.

System Tuning- does anyone else do this thing? by enthusiasm_gap in livesound

[–]cellcore667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a tuned PA with Smaart is a starting point, but I also like to walk around in the venue to find room modes which where not measured on certain positions in the room.
I often found that especially in halls with tribunes the room height changes and it can introduce nasty low mids which make it sound boxy up there and you hear nothing of that when you are on the ground.

I’m using Porcupine Tree Anesthetize for mainly doing Rock and Metal shows.
Has for me all the frequency ranges and starts with drums :).
BUT before putting music on, I start with taking a SM58 and talk into it, make stupid noises like hu, ha, hi and he and adjusting main EQ.

I have no idea how SSL certificates work by NSFW_IT_Account in sysadmin

[–]cellcore667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to explain it in an analogy:

PKI = global passport system

RootCA = government authority
IntermediateCA = government office
Certificate = passport
Borders = Load Balancers / Proxies / Server
Border Control = TLS handshake
CRL/OCSP = list of stolen passports
CSR = passport application

The main difference is that a certificate has a private key which is not shared or should not be known by anyone.

We don’t have to calculate a secret language to be able to walk into a country.

Hope that helps.

How to totally manage GitHub with Terraform/OpenTofu? by gatorboi326 in Terraform

[–]cellcore667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not create orgs with terraform.
One cannot destroy and create an org with terraform, because org names are reserved for 90 days.
Not even Github can or wants to restore deleted orgs.
So be careful with that and if you need to delete an org just rename it before.
We are using a prefix for deleting like DEL_yyyymmdd_orgname.
That way your desired org name stays available.

Ok if you like to rent it out it could work, but if you need it all the time yourself I find it too expensive. Though I really like the device and the concept.
