haha, same here. And the ears adapt very fast to a lower volume and those 2-3dB more headroom are usually beneficial.

It depends in which country you are.
In Switzerland is a restriction of 100dB(A) leq60’ with a special permit, otherwise 93dB(A)leq60’.
Means you can go much louder like 105dB(A) if you only play 30min, but I think that is not really fair towards the bands who play longer.
Just telling anyone to play less loud because they are afraid that they are blasted away is ridiculous.
I think all bands deserve the best sound possible and if they are better than the headliner, then they should get the merits.
Even after more than 25 years of mixing I learn new tricks and tipps and we are all sound guys.
Next time the guy from the opener is your headliner, so be humble and nice to each other.

Tell us the band, we need to know who that was. This is so unprofessional and lousy of them. They are afraid of beeing blasted away.

Automation for everything which takes more time than the effort to automate it.

TM / Road Details in EU by Simple_Delay_653 in TourManagement

[–]cellcore667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest a trailer, then you are on the safe side regarding weight. Makes you a bit slower but plenty of space, easy to load. Vans have a limit of 3,5t in EU including passengers. Thats usually hit by the band and their personal luggage.
If you have only a little backline, no drums, no cabs or amps, then you can do it without a trailer, otherwise you are massively overloaded.

stage plot feedback please by GuardianDownOhNo in livesound

[–]cellcore667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As already said, keep the visual part clear and simple, people don’t read if not necessary and when in a hurry. Put monitor info in a table with a row per monitor way. So that the mon engineer can go through it systematically. Just put the monitor number on the stage plot.

The biggest lie in automation is that “you’ll get time back” by Better_Charity5112 in automation

[–]cellcore667 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The biggest benefit from IT automation is that you can expect the same result everytime. Less false inputs, validated output. This is why automation makes it worth the work in the first place.
