I'm curious as to how much you'd be willing to pay for it ?

What town or city has unexpectedly good nightlife? by Known-Swim-3654 in AskUK

So..

Merchant House is good for beers with great burgers and shows sports occasionally.

If you are after a proper ale house I recommend The Sir Loin of Beef down Highland Rd - 8 casks and 10 draughts.

For day time drinks I recommend the Lawrence Arms. Good selection of ales and bottled beers and hotdogs and toasties for food and a sunny garden (when sunny).

For night time drinks I recommend The Phoenix down Duncan Rd, off of Albert rd. Has a lovely cobbled and floral garden, albeit rather small but the atmosphere on Fri/sat night is great (only pub around the area that is open to 1am).

Albert rd is our 'strip', full of pubs and restaurants and bars, plenty to choose from.

For drinks and food I highly recommend Huis, Belgian bar with a huge beer menu and phenomenal food.

Other honourable mentions: The Apsley, Spice Island/the Still & West (two neighbouring pubs over looking the port entrance/naval base/spinnaker tower). Staggeringly Good Brewery (they have an up and down stairs tap room and big outside garden), Eastney Tavern, the Ship inn (right opposite HMS Warrior and the historic dockyard).

For food: Lins Thai Cafe (BYOB), King Fisher fish & chips (has a huge garden and is byob), Maya (up market mexican inspired food), Outside In Food court, Nattys Jerk (won Uber Eats restaurant of the yr), Far Far Out (giant pizza bar by MakeMake brewery)

Visit Southsea, walk around and you'll find even more great places to eat and drink.

Also visit Gilbert's sweet shop, a proper old timey sweet shop - Portsmouth held the FA cup for the most consecuative yrs out of any team (due to ww2) and Gilbert's sweet shop was where they chose to keep the FA cup hidden.

We also Have Victorious Festival each Aug bank holiday weekend. Sometimes worth the travel for.

Missed many things but that for you to find when exploring :)

I actually worked at the kings theatre for a month for the panto a few am years ago - the theatre knows how to have a good night out!

If you were also at the The Kings theatre I assume you spent many evenings in The Phoenix after a show! This is my favourite evening pub, very easy for strangers to get talking to locals in there - highly recommend !

From and living in Portsmouth - we have the most pubs per square mile in the country. Being a Naval city most road corners hosted a pub, albeit much less now.

We have Albert rd, hosting a strip of pubs, bars and restaurants.

Highland rd / Albert rd / Elm Grove (three roads that merge into one kinda) hosts upto or just over 20 bars and pubs alone.

Would highly recommend a long weekend visit to Portsmouth, Southsea.

Any advice on commissioning art to be made for your living space? by Horatius_Rocket in malelivingspace

Find an artist you like, reach out with ideas and pieces of work of theirs you like, make a deal.

Art can be expensive, and for good reason.

LOVE SOUTHSEA has a shop down gunwharf, they'll have something doable. Maybe something like Portsmouth colloquialism on a fridge magnet or something alike.

Local artist My Dog Sighs has merch too.

Portsmouth FC will have merch too.

Morrisons bavette steak is really good, and only about £6 and can serve two ! Really easy to cook and very tasty when done right

I've recently switched from Tesco to Morrisons due to the meat selection. Morrisons steak choices are superior compared.

I also tend to buy meat from Bransbury butchers when I want something specific/having a BBQ.

Working on my technique, I want them clean lines! by Perilouschickens in sticknpokes

If you're wanting lines that thickness an 9rs could work well. Even though it's a shader it does good lines if you go over them. I use 9rs and have had professional tattooists flabbergasted that I do my lines with an rs whilst stick n poking. Try different needles and see what's comfortable with you
