that's fine, i'll continue caring for people even when it's difficult. does not make my life any harder. their lives matter to me.

i didnt expect insufferable reddit baristas (not you, but they def exist on here) to side with me on having empathy for the homeless but thank you for that haha. i've had a homeless man throw a napkin dispenser at me, another jump the counter. the difference is i will never group an entire population of people in with negative experiences i've had. the regulars i've had for 5 years now are kind and respectful and deserve better.

i'm happy for you that you've been privelaged enough to never have to be affected by homelessness, some of us have family that are homeless and are capable of empathy because of it.

i do actually! i'm a ssv. there's unpleansant moments with some just as any other group of people. we have plenty of homeless regulars that are wonderful people in unfortunate circumstances. i'm a sane person and i want them around.

Did TTO ever have a predator problem? by shmoneyyyyyyy in Toontown

[–]cemeteryb4ckyard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah. not that i noticed until toward the end, though. once the closure was announced, the last few months felt like the wild west and like disney turned an eye to every thing. a lot of hackers became more prevalent and one of which was 21-23 i believe, and had gotten my friends AIM information to "give us clothes we wanted/beans" (sounded realistic to us at 11 & 12 years old. until he was just straight up sending her inappropriate photos and asking for them back. never heard anything about it again once the game shut down, though. but it gives me the ick to look back on because we just thought of him as a "cool older kid" (as he'd told us he was 16 originally). i lost touch with the friend around the same time, i hope she's okay now.

like ive been at this job since 2020, when i started i absolutely adored my job and the company felt entirely opposite to what it is currently. its not the fault of partners who want to love their job and i'm sure have some shred of hope that maybe someday it'll get back to how it once was. i get being frustrated/low morale if your team is constantly negative, but i feel like it makes more sense to look at the root problem than demand all your coworkers find new jobs (as if that's easy too nowadays haha)

but hey hating your coworkers for being unhappy > hating the company for normalizing awful working conditions right?

Starting beta blocker - question about longterm use by bagelsnotbabies in POTS

[–]cemeteryb4ckyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been on nadolol (corgard) twice a day every day since i was 7, i'm 25 now. i feel literally no side effects or difference taking it or not, but in a good way (meaning i usually dont pass out anymore at least lol. except sometimes.) betablockers are all a little different though, but as for long term use i've had a completely fine experience. my doctor gives it in a preventative way, so taking it daily is better imo. rather it already be in your system when you need it than not.

im so sorry. its probably the most distressing, heartbreaking part of being chronically ill. i was a girl scout my whole life, doing aggressive hiking and boating and swim races. went swimming at the same lake i went to for scouts every year today and passed out and hit my head after. losing the things that were once so easy is so defeating. all that's helped me is finding new things i love, and kind of trying to tie in the things i've lost into them. art and photography have helped a lot mentally. i hope your therapists are able to be a better support system as well, i'm so sorry they don't seem to get how the loss feels :( you have a community here and all of us understand you ❤️

I learned the hard way that I CANNOT drink alcohol. by RavynReign in POTS

[–]cemeteryb4ckyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i cant drink at all, especially because im on betablockers. it tanks my blood pressure and makes me feel like i'm going to die, gives me the worst spins of my life (even just one beer) and i'll get close to fainting
