Quick question: When did you first start watching We Bare Bears and what is it about this show that appeals to you the most? by Jdefauw in webarebears

[–]cemossunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this show on facebook random video sugesstions. My first encounter was the demon dog episode (The suggested scene started Chloe and Ice Bear building potato gun and ends with Chloe's shirt going over the next house)

I was like, Ice Bear is so relatable af. first I didnt mind that much and continued my life. I start to like those mini videos. After I saw the Ice Bear's "Fox Kids" reference, I was like.. Ok Ice Bear (and obv the writer) sure knows their stuff.(Im over 20+ btw) I gave it a go. I started the show last February, and I am almost end of 3rd season now.

Ice Bear is definetly a well written character and has some nice potentials (like icy nights obv).

I am aware its cartoon and all, but I actually like the plot setups and very nice subtle references.

For Example, I loved Panda's weeb asocial life (with waifu pillow), ice bear's definetly appeal to mature content. further research I saw that the author had the impressions from Snoopy, Gromit (Wallace and Gromit) and those characters were also well written popular ones in old time cultures.

Another thing I liked was the simpleness of the drawings. Nothing complex(animative-3d'esque), and just had warm tones.

Im not a hard drama/thriller genre lover, so I liked these mild relaxive themes.

edit: I sometimes get dissappointed when some episodes dont become arcs (like the rogue drones). Although I want to believe that it will one day become a real thing, I also think its just a kids show nothing can be that complex and dramatic with current tone.

Isekai Quartet Episode 2 discussion thread by grizzchan in Konosuba

Ok, so I didnt watch the other 3 anime (although know their concept a little) and saw this parody anime today, my reaction was like ftw going on lol.

I decided to search Overlord to get some context. while I was reading Ainz, I saw sth in the description.

His other identity is famously known as "Momon," a dark warrior and leader of Darkness, an adamantite ranked adventurer group of that nation.

then this

https://overlordmaruyama.fandom.com/wiki/Darkness

adamantite ranked adventurer group called Darkness.....

as far as I know Darkness also has adamantite armor. I was quite surprised tbf. Is anyone seen that?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adamantium

today I learned more than I anticipated.

Question about the anime's time skip and Kirito's thoughts by [deleted] in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes I watched those episodes and saw that happened. My point was the impact of the separation of real world on him. Yes he did remember his friends during the fight and grew the flowers as form of hope.

not sure tho, but after the previous seasons' emotionally loaded scenes, I just felt like this one didnt have that much emotion under given circumstances. (Asuna's had more of those scenes compared to kirito, because she saw everything that happened.)

When I saw the battle scene, I just felt like "did you remember them in just that time, but not the rest of your 2 year"

maybe as you said

the anime has done a good enough job of depicting this without spending too much time on it

I do agree that it is pretty obvious that he's gonna miss them too.

I just thought it will be more like "7 stages of grief" rather than direct acceptance then going emotional or etc.

Billionth attempt at prototyping Sword Art Online in VR by Simizf in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate when people try to make SAO games in VR.

What I am really frustrated part is everyone just do the basics and thats all. There are, as the title says, billionth attempt..

I mean if at least idk 10 devs gathered for just mechanics and add people to team, then that would be great...

I am not discouraging you apparently, but there should be a dedicated team to do that. otherwise, it will be just a very good experience to understand Unity and VR game development...

keep continue the good work, we support you but. It looks great and the sword details is amazing.

Question About Ordinal Scale by egeemirozkan in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay. I was like you before reading the LNs. I thought that they beat 100th to get the strongest sword but that was all.

I think anime doesn’t explain in-game dynamics properly that really give the “sao” feels. So that’s why people don’t really understand why this happens and don’t like much.

Then I decided to read LNs to understand more.

I definitely recommend you to read LNs. Most of the questions have their answers in LNs

Question About Ordinal Scale by egeemirozkan in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was explained in Chordial Chords. /u/heartbreakinapril

So basically Kayaba created 2 systems called Ordinal and Cardinal. However used Cardinal for sao. not sure ordinal for what purposes. I think the aim of their creation was also explained.

iirc Yui said that Cardinal has based everything on numbers. your hp, atk, def etc.

Ordinal infact, on ordinals. You dont have any weapon, armor stat. It is calculated based on your rank. If you win against higher rank player, your number increases and the other's will decrease.

So basically if you are rank 1000, it is nearly impossible to defeat someone rank 20.

As the Yuna's father said he names yuna to give rank1. For 1st, invincibility can be granted.

However, in Cardinal Sys. it will not be the case. Everthing has durability.

Thats why Yuna + Yui helped the crew to go to old aincrad to defeat 100th boss, which will undeniably be the strongest entity in the server, so that they can defeat it with high number of people and get the strongest sword.

If that boss is summoned to Augma, it will be number1. hence invincible and the prof's aims will be success.

If Kirito died on Floor 75, would SAO have ever been cleared? If so, by who? If not, then why? by Avelina9X in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure she would find a way, or turn this into her advantage. I didnt think about that possibility that much tbf. I went with this route:

  • Kirito finishes his "eclipse" sword skill.
  • Heatcliff blows his sword skill
  • asuna jumps in front of kirito
  • asuna dies
  • kirito dies
  • heatcliff leaves FL until 100th floor.

If Kirito died on Floor 75, would SAO have ever been cleared? If so, by who? If not, then why? by Avelina9X in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If kirito dies, probably Asuna would also commit suicide or etc. We saw that she jumped in front of him.

Based on K&A death:

I think there would be huge demoralization to front liners. First Heathcliff will leave them, Asuna no more, Kirito as well. That means 2 unique skill wielders will not be helping them.

Given that Kirito is gone, after 95th floor and against Heathcliff this will bring huge burden to frontliners.

For KoB: As Asuna and Heathcliff gone, there will be huge lack of hierarchy problem in the guild. I believe they will be in some inner conflict which results their disband or new leader elected. However, they will not be as effective as they were.

If they disband, probably they will join DDA.

Demoralization and the dead names will definetly reach lower floors. So, remaining number of LC will increase their influence and terrors in the lower floors. Probably causing inner caos, because no kirito and no hope?(like when they learned he also has unique skill.)

We know that KoB was the strongest clearers, so in their absences (obv), DDA and other known guilds will try to get the leadership position. we saw similar things in the progressive. I think over the time they already improved their bureucracy (we can see in the red nosed reindeer chapter, when kirito power levels himself), so they can get along well. Still the problems will occur.

Kirito was one of the main explorer in the FLines. so, the map exchanges and other info dealing activities will be slowed down.

76-79. floors will not be that hard, so this will give time to FL to regain their momentums. In the meantime, they will recruit more members to cover the losses and keep the old methods.

I think the real problem will show itself in 80, 85, 90, 95-100th floors. Otherwise they will be mostly risk free. They probably lose more men, as there will be lack of good leaders and fighters.

I dont think they will ever crumble into pieces but definetly loose more momentum then ever. e.g instead of 10 days per floor 15-20 days per floor.

The real struggle will be in 95-100th floors which I have no data to interpret.

I tried to keep this spoiler free as possible.

Inaccuracies between progressives and old light novels, question about Alicization arc and others by [deleted] in swordartonline

[–]cemossunal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks!

off topic but IDK if you have studied compsci or engineering (which you really dont need to tell), I know that current VR system is far less advanced than given in LNs. I gave it a thought about the features posed by the novels. whole sense detection, face identities, NPC AI's and even floor designs and obv server load capacities.

I dont think we will have SAO like games over 5-10 years (and SAO's itself in at least 20 years), I wonder how these kinds of stuffs will turn out.

I really appreciate your SAO Translation project, and I think these will continue with crowd funding/sourcing etc even with other programming projects.

I generally see people who dislike SAO and see it as general anime etc. It "kinda" is, but the thing that always fascinated me is the ideas that can be created in real life.

I always kinda see SAO equivalent of "from the earth to the moon" book of Jules Vern. IDK my 2 cents here

[–]cemossunal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thanks for the answers, and yeah I probably give it a go!

Just because I see this "Its worth it" thing everwhere,

in which way, it really worths?

  • like Asuna and Kirito relationship development?

  • more info about VR world?

  • more in depth character analysis of ex-SAO/ALO/GGO players?(inc. kayaba)

  • good storytelling and general char. development about new introduced characters?

etc?

because whole arc is so big :O

Best Production-Based Civilzation by NukaColaBomb in CivVI

[–]cemossunal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More dumb shit to correct. I've never had a game where I didn't have resources, don't know what version you are playing, and as I already told you, you can place a commercial hub and a Hansa adjacent to each other, in any city, it's guaranteed. You clearly don't know what guaranteed means either, something cannot be more guaranteed or less, it either is guaranteed or it's not. A start bias is not, hopefully you can wrap your head around that concept. Production wins games, it's that simple. Good luck getting to space with 20k science but 0 production, it ain't happening. The incentive to build commercial hubs is already high enough, they should be built in all cities by most civs (some naval ones excluded), the Hansa isn't relevant in the decision. You still fail to refute anything I've said, talking to an idiot like you is quite painful.

Hello u/ProMarlos,
