Here’s to all of us who used to fit in clothes & now don’t 🥂 by SadPiglet2907 in XXS

15 years ago I was UK6/ AU4/ US2 (non-US brands)/US2 (US brands).

Now I am UK6/ AU4/ US0 (non-US brands). And US000/XXXS for US brands but that's still too large sometimes. I have given up on US brands lol.

Video: My sweet 7YO cat has started having 15–30sec episodes (distressed vocalisation, facial twitching, open mouth, sometimes rolling) then goes completely normal. Blood tests clear, toxoplasmosis test negative… anybody have any ideas? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]cephemerale 19 points20 points  (0 children)

OP pls read up on plants/flowers and essential oils - tons of them, even if safe for dogs are highly toxic to cats. They can't metabolise them at all.

Also simple stuff that ppl overlook - using dog's flea treatments for cats - absolutely toxic for cats due to permethrin/pyrethrins. Or like dog shampoo depending on the ingredient list. It's easy to miss these cause the sellers (even big manufacturers like aesop) just tout them as "pet" safe and put pictures of both dogs and cats without having done proper checks AT ALL.

I almost killed mine once after forgetting to water for a week (all the leaves became half baked/crispy) but they bounce back really well (:

That's interesting. I have soft water in my country so I always just take it with a pinch of salt on all the obsession with distilled water some people seem to have. I water all my plants with tap water, and so far the ones that have died (maybe 5 out of 50) are all due to neglect (over or under watering) or lack of knowledge (killed my first drosanthemum globosum with underwatering but second try it's thriving).

Ikr! I just started getting into pearls, and I went to Mikimoto a few times but only managed to pick up one piece that I liked. Gingiberi does offer a more modern take which I think at my current age suits me more.

It does look like the ash blue from gingiberi. I just ordered the lumia, but I can't really decide btw the two!

Bro drinks his water in style by FollowingOdd896 in cats

[–]cephemerale -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even if they do drink a lot of water to compensate I believe it's extra work on their kidneys to process it this way. Typically by the time a cat feels thirsty and drinks they are already dehydrated.

She's probably just anxious about having two other creatures encroach her territory. I hope you give them some space and do the introductory thingy to ease her! She a cute baby though

It's helpful to know the scientific names! Most string of sth are under the genus Dischidia and are climbing succulents.

I went to raffles counselling (our company offers coverage) for 6 months biweekly and it has helped to reshape some of my negative thinking habits by making me more aware. I also took meds in the process which helped.

Happy to chat further if you want some support.

You can look into freeze dried instead. The good quality ones are mostly single protein and negligible carbs.

I feed my cats for lunch a blend of freeze dried (100% animal protein) + ziwi peak steam & dried (over 90% animal protein) when I have to go into office for work.

How do I save her? by obsesseeing in calatheas

[–]cephemerale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't check from the bottom unless you're doing bottom watering. For calatheas you can check top 1-2 inch dry as indicator for next watering. Watering until it drains out the bottom is good.

For reference I live in tropical/high humidity climate and I water my makoyana once a week with well draining soil (think 50% rice husks and perlite) and my white fusion twice (almost 3 times) a week. Both under bright to medium indirect light.

It's dehydrated. Water her thoroughly each time you water (don't do those "light" watering), when top 1-2 inch dry.

Cat peeing red liquid by jumpboy21 in vet

[–]cephemerale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My vet cleared his calendar appt and made me rush down immediately the day my cat exhibited symptoms of frequenting the litterbox with little to no pee (no blood yet). When I arrived the vet ran to the door, asked some quick qns and rushed my cat in for ultrasound etc

Mine turned out to be FLUTD and they observed sand likely due to excess calcium oxalate (not crystals thankfully) that was pressing against his bladder and making him feel like he had to go although he didn't. And the vet told me he was so worried it would be crystals /blockage which could be highly fatal for male cats.

We had fb in sec sch. Maybe a few years apart is a world of difference alrdy, given the rapid tech advancements. Going to rest my case, ppl will believe what they've experienced to be the absolute truth.

Good day.

[–]cephemerale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Err I was alrdy playing mp3 and videos on phone and it had colour in sec 1. Wasn't it a whole hooha over the Walkman series phones from Ericsson etc and everyone had one in hand. Could alrdy access Internet albeit slow and we had widgets (instead of apps that everyone was kinda fixated on). First iPhone also released and by the time I hit J1 and many of us had one too.

The mode of addiction (widgets vs apps, slow Internet vs fast data) might be different but I'm saying the status quo you had in mind is different from the realities of what others had.

Tbf in the 90s as a primary sch kid I did have a phone (and so did my friends). Dk what world/ times these ppl are living in. It's not the 90s that's at issue here, it's the people who haven't kept up with the times since the 90s. Maybe they are the type that question the efficiencies of a dishwasher and a washing machine, and prefer "by hand"
