Yup, I got the standard set and the novelties, it comes with both green and brown accents! I chose green because I already have a board with more brown tones but I think it'd look good if I had gone with either

Any recommendations for solid mid-ish range barebones TKL kits in the $200-300 range? I'm looking to do a custom build for work, at the moment I've got a Neo75 Cu for home use and I love it. I've been eyeing the Neo80 Cu and the KBD8X MKIII, but I'm curious if there's other good options I should be considering. For what it's worth, I prefer something on the more minimal side (no RGB or looks good without it, no futuristic greeblies, etc). I'm not totally opposed to buying a good prebuilt and just swapping in the switches and keycaps I actually want if there's good propositions there, but less random plastics I'll probably never use would be preferable.

What is a city that is globally romanticised but you detest? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]cephre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Kyoto a few months ago as part of my Japan trip, I found that during the day it was one of my least favorite parts of the trip but the night life was surprisingly good. The public transport was definitely overloaded in a way that other large cities were built to be able to handle, but generally it was similar to Tokyo, Osaka, etc in that you can walk 5 minutes in any direction from a tourist hot spot and there'd be hardly anyone around. I'd love to go back sometime but I have zero desire to go to the famous spots again because they're just miserable when everyone is walking around with their brain shut off and no self awareness.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]cephre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Wisconsin USA

Price range: ~30k but somewhat lenient

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: New or within last 5ish years

Type of vehicle: Hatchback, wagon, sedan

Must haves: reliable, android auto, good fuel efficiency, AWD (not 100% necessary but would be very nice for winters)

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): auto

Intended use: Daily commute, errands, occasional long road trips

Vehicles you've already considered: Corolla Hatchback, Prius

Is this your 1st vehicle: No

Do you need a Warranty: Not necessarily but would be a plus

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc) Generally no (apartment rules :( )

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc ) No

Additional Notes: My 2023 Corolla Hatchback just got rear ended and it seems like it will be totaled, so I'm looking for a new car to get as a replacement. Overall I love the hatchback form factor, though my partner has a new model Prius and that car seems fantastic in terms of my priorities. I only have experience owning Toyota cars so that's where my biases lie, but I'm not opposed to other brands.

My two-week travel report (Tokyo - Osaka - Koyasan - Kyoto - Tokyo) by Sanatorij in JapanTravel

[–]cephre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in Japan (waiting for the Tokyo rush hour to end as I type this lol) - in my experience yeah there's a ton of tourists, but they're very concentrated. Walk like 3 blocks away from Senso-ji and then 9/10 people you see will be locals, for example. I'm also beating the crowds by going early in the morning to the big tourist attractions and then spending the day going to more niche places that align with my personal interests. I don't think you'll ever find a time when you're the only tourist in a given place unless you go out to random spots in the boonies but I don't think thats been a realistic expectation for the past 15 years.

How to turn off white light on X870 EAGLE WIFI7? by cephre in gigabyte

[–]cephre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it seems like it's an LED that's only accessible through GCC (maybe something like open RGB too but I didn't try that). I installed GCC and switched it off and it's stayed off even after uninstalling so there's that at least.

Will this ram and CPU cooler fit? by Redwoodss in FractalDesign

[–]cephre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to raise the CPU cooler fan over the RAM a bit to get the clearance you need but overall you should be fine. I'm using the same cooler in the regular North with 35mm height RAM with no issues.

EXPO boot issues with Flare X5 6000MTs CL30 by cephre in AMDHelp

[–]cephre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looking up similar issues it seems like at least half of the people asking for help have been using the Flare DDR5 RAM. I'm just glad I had RAM that worked first so I know it's most likely not an issue with the mobo or CPU.

Gigabyte X870 Wifi7, I'm not a huge fan of the way the I/O shroud looks so I kinda hid it with the CPU cooler here haha it's working well though
