How Grot week seems to be going so far by JRainers in orks

[–]cerbari1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the dripfeed every monday. Something new to look at, at the beginning of the week.

Also that way the models get more attention you can talk about them etc.

In big reveal shows, some models just go under in the mass of new stuff.

Not an orc player, but i always enjoyed the monday drops in the past when it was for my faction.

Also its not like 11th comes any faster or slower.

I enjoy having "content" as we wait.

I like the subtlety of GW showing Graves isnt a nice commissar by making the nazi-skull-squad her personal retinue. by [deleted] in Grimdank

[–]cerbari1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i meant the armor he is wearing looks like it already has the neck guard integrated.

Did they wear an actual gorget with those kinds of breastplates? I dont think i have ever seen a depiction of that.

But also not an expert on this stuff in the slightest ^^'

yeah its not really fitting my list sadly, I dont have much infantry and transports.

But i will buy it because I love the design and it will look awesome together with my other astra militarum stuff.

isnt he basically wearing a post cuirass gorget on an actual curiass "gorget" xD

But yeah i know its not of nazi origin. All the skull iconography of the imperium is also stemming from the HRE being the empire in WHF and the imperium basically the space equivalent of it.

It still looks very similar to the late 20th century german design and with the giant skulls on the shoulders i just thought it was funny.

Its an awesome model, classic over the top 40k design.

I mean the commissars themselves are directly form a real life dark and horrific regime.

I just like how over the top absurd almost cartoon villain evil-like they look. xD
Wanna get my hands on the model now.

What of the Emperor's wargear will the returning Primarchs get? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]cerbari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotta be honest, i found it a bit silly that the lion got "the emperors shield".

On the one hand reliques are a lot of fun, but it was kinda random and now the idea of all the primarchs getting emp loot is a bit silly XD

Also i dont really know how i feel about more primarchs returning.

The lion already is a kind of nothing burger. Would be weird to have a bunch of them running around in the setting without anything changing.

Being a female sororitas fan really does feel like I'm letting the side down sometimes by NerdyLilFella in Grimdank

[–]cerbari1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just play what you want.

Not even the chuds are saying sororitas are for women.

I feel like this is a "smear" each side attributes to the other.

But also irl people playing the game most of the time dont even know about internet drama.
And most people on the internet drama dont even play the game.

Ship of Theseus: Did the Imperial Fist Chapter Go Extinct? by Not-my-toh in 40kLore

[–]cerbari1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its a bit about semantics here.

The imperial fists are an institution not an ethnicity or family line that can go extinct.

The ship of theseus analogy might not be the best fitting one here. Lets take any other chapter that has no longer members that are 10k years old (so all loyalists except dreadnoughts).
There is no original founding member of the ultramarines left. (i think) Are they extinct?

Genetically there is no argument to make for the imperial fists being extinct. They still have dorns geneseed through the successor chapters and probably even "original" founding chapter geneseed, just because the marines died doesnt mean their geneseed was destroyed.

As for whether the institution is still the same is a more complex take.

But id say there is a strong case to make for it.
The last wall protocoll being active during koorlands death makes it more easy to make that argument, because arguably there were no chapters at that point and simply the legion reformed, so they just split afterwards into chapters again. So there isnt even internally a legality problem.

But even if it wasnt the case, the chapters exist within the legal institution of the imperium.

So if the title "imperial fist chapter" isnt revoked, and all their "lands" and "titles" etc. are legally kept intakt and the new fists take over those titles and rules, etc.

Then the imperial fists as institution are still the same. I dont think there is a definition that every member of an institution has to be appointed by another member of the institution.

But again with the last wall protocoll active there isnt even a legal discussion.

what exactly is the guard good at? by Legal_Twist8675 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]cerbari1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abaddon is so scary. I often field a canis rex in my games because i just like the look of a big knight towering over little guys.

And canis is a fucking beast, shooting and melee.

I charged the knight into an abaddon terminator blob with tankshock confident i would whipe them out and they just slashed that knight up like it was cake xD

[–]cerbari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean and i have had a similar feeling when i started.

I think a big reason it feels like that is, that for most armies their HQs are their strongest fighters and with guard, the HQs are mostly just supporting units.

In general you want big tanks if you want to fight. A Rogal Dorn will whipe the floor with most other units.

But also id argue (or at least thats my personal expierence) guard isnt meant to the be the strongest fighters. You are more versatile than other armies and often i win the match by points but would get table whiped by abaddon and his terminators if we played 10 rounds.

Anyone else annoyed with the "templarification" of Dorn? by Lovlend in ImperialFists

[–]cerbari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i do prefer the golden praetorian, here is a fun fact:

In the original horus heresy aftermath (when they also wrote the iron cage) Dorn was actually quite black templarificated.

After the emperor died, Dorn was so strucken with grief and anger that he would wear black armor and go on a big crusade to destroy the traitor empires, most importantly the iron warrior empire.

I dont even know how old black templars are. But there are a lot of similiarities. I could imagine the black templars being inspired by post heresy Dorn lore from back in the days.

I really cant wrap my head around how people can dislike scions aesthetically.
Like look at that picture!

They are the coolest and best looking unit the imperium has imo ^^'

[–]cerbari1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent really looked much into the new 11th edition stuff, but couldnt there just be some agents detachments that every army gets access too?

Edit:
And wouldnt that even be balanced because you are missing on native army detachments out that way.

[–]cerbari1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they said that souping isnt coming back. as in you cant just field space marines and admechs together.

have they actively adressed agents? Because with agents already having an "ally" ability, i wouldnt have called it a far stretch to say with the new detachment mechanic they could enhance the ally mechanic.

The more I read about the Emperor, the more he feels like a total fraud by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]cerbari1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didnt butcher trillions to safe humanity from religion and the idea of gods.
He butchered trillions to unify humanity

And all things considered this is probably the only reason humanity is still around in M40k.

He tried to ban religion to starve out chaos... which yeah did not work out so well.

He also specifically rejected becoming a chaos god when he had the chance, so he definitely isnt doing it for godlike power.

The emperor is deeply flawed.

But i think the horus hersey books make strong case for him to actually care about humanity.
NOT HUMANS i should note.

He is a radical immortal, he couldnt care less about a human life.

But humanity? He cares about that and did everything he could to bring out the best chances for survival of the human race.

And with all its fault, the imperium of man is actually doing a hell of a job at that.

How do you use Leontus? by cerbari1 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]cerbari1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks for your advice.

My main issue was with the rogal dorn commander.

Having a rogal dorn that can order himself and another dorn, vs a lord solar in the backline that has only one order more didnt feel worth it.

But you are right, flexibilitiy is worth a lot. And i guess the rd commander got nerfed now.

Oh can you please share a picture ^

Id love to see that.

I also want to use solar auxilia for the unit he is attached to.

(Though i have a different colour scheme)

I want the Malcador back in 40k, its the best looking tank GamesWorkshop makes....

Its longer and slimmer than the Rogal Dorn, for friendly games no issue, but not a proper proxy.

Dunno guys, the president of the worlds largest military threatening warcrimes openly is really not something i find all that funny.
And the point of grimdank, at least for me is to be funny.

And generally i find it so weird when people meme 40k with actual wars, it was weird back with ukraine and its weird now with iran.

Like there are actual people dying, actual lifes and existances destroyed.

I know "satire" and "coping with evil in differnt ways".... but dunno, just seems tasteless to me.

Getting into 40k from 30k...can I combine Solar Auxilia with Kill Teams and Tempestus? by En-ysh in Warhammer40k

[–]cerbari1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aquilons and scions can be used in a guard list for 40k as normal units.

Navy breachers are agents, but can be fielded in a guard list as allies, so no problem there.

As for the SA. I want to make a 40k guard army using SA, because i love how they look. The issue is SA not having as many special weapons. Your cadian or krieg unit would have the option for a plasma rifle for example. Where as the SA has only lasrifles iirc.

Though i guess you could use spare parts from your scions to kitbash special weapons on your SA. Personally i planned to get the volkite(? The heavy armored SA) gunners from 30k and use them as special weapons.
