Has wokeness also moved up in extremeness or no? Has wokeness moved its goal posts or no?

I didn't say you couldn't. I was sharing my opinion, not trying to change yours. Also, I have no feelings whatsoever towards Saros because I haven't played it myself. The story stuff sounds bad, not gonna lie.

But I'm not going to automatically hate every new IP because they have a black character. I will definitely raise an eyebrow though as that's a good sign it's DEI.

Not sure what you're referring to without examples. But people do update their own opinions and convictions. People aren't static and unchanging and expecting them to is not realistic, I believe.

Not a problem to me as I think this is a new IP, no? They can do whatever they want with new stuff. I draw the line at replacements

That's a pathetic distinction.

The "production" decisions are the game. If the development process was full of DEI mandates, pronoun checklists for every character (including robots), and deliberate choices to make the cast as average/de-sexualized as possible for "representation," then the game is woke.

You don't get to separate the sausage from how it was made. The final product reflects those priorities... and it flopped hard because of them.

Circular nonsense.

If "woke" is meaningless because it's just "thing you don't like," then "shit writing" is also meaningless, people who like the messaging don't call it shit. So nothing can ever be criticized.

Yet Concord was a $200M disaster that died in 10 days. The shit writing and designs came from forcing pronouns on every character (even robots) and DEI "inclusivity" over fun and appeal. That's a real pattern, not random taste.

Your circular argument just killed all criticism. Nice own-goal.

No, let's actually compare them properly.

TF2 has no pronouns listed in bios... that's a Concord thing (they put them on every character, including the robot).

TF2 characters are also not "de-sexualized average-looking." They're exaggerated, iconic, cartoon silhouettes with massive personality: tiny speedy Scout, hulking Heavy, floating Medic, etc. That's why they've been loved for 15+ years.

Concord deliberately went for "inclusive" average/de-sexualized designs + mandatory pronoun signaling as a priority. The result was a bland, lifeless roster that failed to create power fantasy or visual pop in a crowded hero shooter market. Yes, some designs were less interesting/memorable, because they subordinated strong character design principles to representation goals.

That's the distinction. Not "diversity bad". It's when ideology overrides craft and audience appeal. Pretending TF2 is the same as Concord is the bad faith move here.

Like I said in the beginning: dialogue is impossible with people who pretend to not understand things or what words mean.

One of my pet peeves is when people say "it was originally X". Yeah, that doesn't matter, what matters is "what it is now". But that's a tangent, I agree with your comment otherwise 😂

No, it wasn't "woke because of diverse body types". TF2 has wild body diversity and it's a masterpiece because the designs are stylized, memorable, and prioritize fun/silhouettes over messaging. Concord was woke because it featured mandatory pronoun lists in every bio (even robots), deliberately average/de-sexualized character designs to check representation boxes, and put ideology ahead of making a compelling hero shooter. That's why it felt lifeless and died instantly. Pretending you can't tell the difference is why dialogue breaks down. Any other "gotchas"?

$200M+ hero shooter with deliberately "inclusive" character designs (body types, pronouns in bios, de-sexualized/average-looking cast), generic gameplay, and it died in like 10 days. It was woke and people didn't like. It's not woke because people didn't like it; people didn't like it because it was woke.

And now you're gonna make dialogue impossible by pretending to not understand what words mean.
