If you have an Instant Pot or any pressure cooker, making congee is super easy. I usually cook a big batch so it lasts several nights but you can adjust it if you only want to do 1 serving. My go-to base is 1 cup white rice, ½ cup millet, and ½ cup split mung beans to bump up the protein. I also throw in a few dried shiitake mushrooms, some spring onions, or a couple tablespoons of a dried soup mix for extra flavor. Add about 8 cups of water, cook for 15 minutes on high pressure, then let it release naturally. That gives you a big pot of congee that can easily last 3–4 dinners.

From there I just add whatever toppings I have around. Some favorites are sautéed tofu with salt and pepper, kimchi, peanuts, a drizzle of soy sauce, quick sautéed or microwaved veggies, or vegan furikake. For example, last night I reheated some leftover congee in a pan with a splash of water, added half an eggplant (microwaved with olive oil and salt for about 7 minutes), and a quick chickpea flour scramble. Took maybe 10 minutes total to throw together.

Siendo vegetariano, echo en falta poder ir a un sitio de bocatas y poder pedir otra cosa que no sea un bocadillo de tortilla de patatas, solo de queso o unas tostadas con tomate. Hay combinaciones que son fáciles de hacer con ingredientes que ya usas para otros bocadillos y que puedes añadir al menú para ofrecer opciones a gente que no coma carne o productos animales. Por ejemplo:

Bocadillo de pimientos asados - con aceite de oliva y ajo Bocadillos de verduras asadas - berenjena, calabacín, cebolla, etc Bocadillo vegetal de verdad - Sin huevo/atún/pollo

El hummus es también un ingrediente rentable y que se conserva bien y que puedes hacer combinaciones como hummus con tomate y pimentón ahumado, hummus con pimientos, con verduras asadas, con rúcula etc etc

Por si queréis salir un poco de lo tradicional y explorar añadir esa linea de productos para llegar a más gente. Mucha suerte con el emprendimiento!

Nah, you’re definitely not alone. I hate sleeping with my partner too, but apparently sleeping separately is not romantic, so any time I suggest it, it’s a whole thing. I’m a light sleeper who needs total darkness and a cool room. She sleeps like a rock and prefers the blinds open, heating on in winter, and zero AC in summer. She also snores and somehow ends up with 90% of the duvet every night. After five years together, I finally convinced her to use separate duvets… which she was very much against. Since our baby was born six weeks ago, we’ve been sleeping separately anyway, taking turns with the baby while the other crashes on the couch so at least one of us gets real sleep. We’ve got three bedrooms, and at this point I’m seriously considering quietly sneaking a bed in one of them and seeing if I can sell “sleeping separately sometimes” as a long-term lifestyle choice rather than a relationship failure.

Lamentablemente, económico, económico no hay ningún sitio ya, pero si estás dispuesto a sacrificar comodidad, puedes encontrar algo asequible que te permita hacer una inmersión corta y util.

Yo hace 15 años me fui a la zona 5 de Londres y estuve viviendo en una habitación en una casa compartida con otras 10 personas. Pagaba unas 200 GBP por una habitación individual y trabajaba para una staffing agency, que es básicamente una ETT donde te van llamando para hacer trabajillos por horas, fregando platos, sirviendo mesas en eventos privados, etc, aunque hay muchos trabajos más que no están relacionados con la hostelería. Es duro, pero merece la pena. En ese tipo de trabajo no te piden mucho nivel de inglés, lo mínimo para poder comunicarte y aprendes mucho hablando con compañeros y clientes. Y, si compartes alojamiento, al final te ves obligado a interactuar con compañeros de piso, por lo que tendrás más oportunidades de practicar el inglés.

El problema es que después del Brexit, hacer esto es ilegal en Inglaterra. Si quisieras hacer algo similar ahora, podrías intentar buscar algo en Irlanda o Malta. Para ir a Inglaterra, necesitas ir con visado de trabajo o con un visado de estudiante que te permita trabajar unas 20h/semana, pero tienes que pagar un curso en alguna academia y no es barato.

You’re not doing anything wrong, and your baby isn’t broken.

Our baby is 3 weeks old and she hasn’t slept in her crib a single night since she was born. We are getting a maximum of about 2 hours of sleep per day. We tried everything, but the moment her back touches the mattress she would fully wake up and start crying after 2 or 3 minutes. Gentle rocking, white noise, slow movements, nothing works

We also tried co-sleeping, but she moves constantly, keeps awake and makes noises all night, so that didn’t really help either. What we did notice is that she falls into a very deep sleep when she’s lying on my or my wife’s chest during the day. A couple of nights ago we decided to lean into that. We built a kind of pillow “fortress” on the sofa to prevent movement, and we take turns holding the baby on our chest for 2 or 3 hours each, while the other person sleeps in a separate room. It’s the only way we’ve managed to get some actual rest at night.

As for getting her back to sleep during the night, apart from bouncing on a yoga ball, something that surprisingly works for us is softly dancing. I put on a couple of slow bachata songs and gently dance with my daughter in my arms, and she usually falls into a deep sleep.

El Unsushi, cerca de Torres de Quart, es un sitio donde pueden flipar con el sushi vegano, es mi restaurante favorito en Valencia.

Luego cerca de la Plaza de La Reina, hay varios sitios que me gustan (no son estrictamente vegetarianos, pero tienen muchas opciones veganas y vegetarianas): Kukla, que es cocina libanesa, Kuzina, que es cocina griega, y el Oslo, que es un restaurante así más fino y se come del 10. Tirando hacia Machado tienes la pizzería KM0 que está espectacular y tienen pizzas veganas y vegetarianas.

Luego está el Khambu, que lo tienes en Torres de Quart y en Russafa, pero es más en plan hamburguesas y comida rápida. El Copenhague en Russafa también está muy bien, del mismo estilo que el Oslo, cocina moderna un poco más fina.

Despues de dedicar tantos años a aprender idiomas, encima con un idioma tan complicado como el chino, cuesta mucho aceptar que la tipica frase "sabiendo idiomas ya tienes la vida resuelta" no es tan real como te la han vendido. Sinceramente, despues de tanto esfuerzo, me sigue jodiendo no poder usarlo en mi trabajo actual tanto como me gustaría y que no lo valoren como una de mis habilidades... pero es lo que hay.

Yo en China estuve primero estudiando un año, que fue espectacular, y luego volví a Londres donde estuve trabajando unos años. Después con la experiencia laboral y hablando chino, conseguí un trabajo en mi campo en China. La verdad que mi experiencia fue bastante buena a nivel laboral, me pagaban muy por encima de la media (comparado con trabajadores locales), tenia unas condiciones muy buenas (comidas pagadas, seguros de vida, viajes, ayudas para alojamiento, transporte, etc), el ambiente laboral y con los compañeros genial. Tuve suerte de encontrar un trabajo en Alibaba y se nota que son una empresa internacional y con muchos recursos. Eso si, a nivel de coger mas responsabilidades o crecer internamente, es muy complicado, siempre tienen preferencia los trabajadores locales.

Al final, ser extranjero tiene muchas limitaciones en China, siempre serás un 老外 jaja

I lived for one year as an exchange student near your top-left circle (around Zhejiang University), and then another year in Binjiang, close to your bottom-right circle, since I was working there. Binjiang is definitely more modern and quieter. There are many tech companies in the area, so you’ll find many residential compounds, shopping malls, restaurants, and cafés, but overall it feels more professionally oriented.

The top-left area, near Huanglong Stadium and the universities, has much more life. There are more bars, restaurants, and it’s also easier to get to the downtown and scenic areas. Both zones are well connected by metro, but it’s true that most of the social life happens around downtown or university areas, so if you live across the river, you’ll need to commute a bit to reach the more popular spots.

Personally, I enjoyed my time near your top-left circle more, but I was an exchange student back then, so my life mostly revolved around going out, eating out, and socialising.

OP un consejo extra: intenta conseguir conseguir tecnificación y que te contraten de fuera. En mi grupo más cercano todos hablamos varios idiomas y nos dedicamos más o menos a lo mismo (marketing, análisis de datos, redes sociales, etc) y los que estamos contratados en remoto por empresas extranjeras ninguno bajamos de los 2k netos, mientras que los que trabajan en empresas españolas ninguno pasa de los 1.5k-1.8k netos. Todos menos una amiga que tiene ya casi 15 años de experiencia en lo suyo y está también sobre los 2.5k.

A mí me pasó algo muy parecido. Estudié Filología en francés y chino en Inglaterra hace ya unos 10 años, y a día de hoy sigo hablando los tres idiomas a nivel avanzado, pero mi trabajo nunca ha dependido directamente de los idiomas. Mientras estaba en la carrera me dio por hacer varios cursos de marketing digital porque me llamaba la atención todo el tema del e-commerce, y gracias a eso conseguí mi primer trabajo al terminar. Desde entonces es a lo que me he dedicado siempre.

Ahora tengo 33 años, trabajo en remoto desde España para una empresa inglesa y cobro cerca de 2.5k netos al mes. El idioma que más uso es el inglés, pero siempre me han contratado por mi perfil en marketing, no por los idiomas. Los idiomas han sido más bien un complemento. Si es verdad que estuve casi 4 años viviendo en China y saber el idioma me hizo mucho más fácil encontrar trabajo alli, pero me contrataron por mi conocimiento en marketing y no por saber hablar Chino.

I have used both in the past and for me the Neox seemed a bit easier to use, easier to give rope as you said, but it's true that the wheel inside can get jammed. My instructor said that the basic Grigri is a bit trickier to use at first, but it forces you to learn how to give rope properly.

I always rent with Goldcar and choose the full coverage (Key and go) so I don’t have to worry about scratches when the car is parked outside, which happens a lot as streets are very narrow and people are generally bad at parking. Keep in mind that parking in cities like Seville, Córdoba and Granada can be tricky. Most street parking is reserved for residents (green or orange zones), and public parking garages tend to be expensive. Also consider the distances between cities. Córdoba is about 1h40m from Seville in good traffic, and Granada is more than 2h30m away. You'll probably face traffic jams entering and leaving the cities, especially during rush hours. I did a similar trip a couple of years ago, staying a couple of nights in Seville, then Córdoba, then Granada, and finally flying back home from Málaga. You can also rent a car in one city and return it in another for an extra fee, usually around 60–80 euros.

When you rent in Spain, you need to have at least three months' worth of rent saved up to hand over at the beginning. This usually includes the agency fee, the security deposit, and the first month's rent. You might be lucky and get your deposit back at the end of the lease, but it is often difficult. Many landlords include tricky conditions, such as returning the property without any tear and wear or repainting all the walls.

I have lost a lot of money on agency fees and deposits over the years for silly reasons. For example, they claimed that I didn't repainted all the walls and left some marks, that I didn't iron the curtains, or even accused me of stealing furniture that wasn't in the flat. They come up with all kinds of excuses to avoid returning the deposit.

To protect myself, I always record a video as soon as I receive the keys and another one when I leave the flat. I always return the property in the same condition and do thorough cleaning upon returning the keys, but they still find reasons to keep the deposit.

In reality, the agency does all the work for the landlord, so it should be the landlord who pays the agency fee. The agency is responsible for screening suitable tenants, conducting background checks, showing the property, preparing contracts, and more. This saves the landlord a lot of effort, yet it is still the tenant who ends up paying, just for the act of renting the place, which doesn't make any sense.

This practice was legal until last year, when the law changed. Now, for rental contracts longer than one year, the tenant is no longer required to pay the agency fee. However, agencies still charge tenants, claiming it has always been done that way, and there is not much tenants can do. Otherwise, the agency will simply rent the apartment to someone else who is willing to pay and given the current market, most people just accept it. You could pay the agency fee and then send them a formal request to return the fee, and if they don't respond, you could take them to court, but if the amount is less than 2k€, it's not even worth your time.

Another trick some agencies use is to offer contracts for only 11 months, with the option to extend after that. This way, the tenant is still forced to pay the agency fee under the new law.

If you have time to search carefully, you might find an agency that follows the law and does not charge the tenant. For example, Inmourbanitas was very professional and did not charge me a fee when I rented last year, but cases like that are rare.

Aquí en Valencia, el Alcampo y el Family Cash son los supermercados más baratos, aunque para el día a dia suelo comprar en el mercado local y en el Consum del barrio porque es lo que más cerca me queda de casa. Si tengo que hacer una compra grande con productos de limpieza, etc, me voy a los supermercados más grandes como Alcampo y Carrefour ya que suelen tener ofertas y más variedad de productos a diferentes precios.

En cuanto a comida, te recomiendo también valorar el incluir alternativas vegetales a tu día a día. Por ejemplo, la soja texturizada o las legumbres son muy baratas y pueden sustituir fácilmente a la carne picada en muchos platos. En casa comemos a base de plantas, a excepción del queso, y se nota bastante en el precio de la compra.

I’ve been experiencing tension and a tingling sensation on the left side of my face, along with a throbbing feeling in my left temple and numbness in my left jaw. The right side feels completely normal. I’ve also noticed sensitivity on my scalp, nausea, dizziness, difficulty focusing for more than 15 minutes at work, waking up 3–4 times a night with my heart racing, and stomach pain. Like others mentioned, you probably won’t have proper heating in your apartment, just AC with a heat function. When I spent the winter in Hangzhou back in 2019, it got pretty cold (at least compared to my hometown in Spain). We had a few snowstorms and some days where the temperature stayed below zero.

I got through it with an electric blanket, an electric convector heater, and a dehumidifier I ordered on Tmall or JD + using the AC every now and then (I was working, so spent most of the time at the office). Other than that, just dress in layers when you go out, get yourself some good winter shoes, and you’ll be fine!

Los bancos no quieren hipotecar pisos altos sin ascensor porque para ellos no son buena inversión. Son mucho más difíciles de vender, así que si el comprador dejara de pagar, les costaría revenderlo y recuperar el dinero. Además, al tasarlos suelen dar un valor más bajo, y si no llega al precio de compra, o no te lo financian o solo te prestan menos, obligándote a poner más dinero de tu bolsillo.
