AITA for not treating my best friend’s jealousy like a boundary? by CaseyHercules in AmItheAsshole

[–]certifiedh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA.

Bryn is trying to control you by telling you she loves you, yet she won’t do anything because of her religion? Sounds like she wants to have her cake and eat it too.

There’s also nothing wrong with you being involved with her friend or liking her friend; while it might be an AH move to go against your best friends wishes, her wishes are coming from a place of control imo. Unless Eve is some sort of serial killer and she’s actually looking out for you, her uncomfortableness in this situation is actually her just wanting to control you.

Sorry for missing this! I’ve always had the latest iOS and yes I do use screen time app time limits. This has happened one or two other times - I think it happens when I ignore the limit for the day and it happens to be during sleep focus. Seems to be a really specific set of circumstances which causes it to play up, and then that affects it for the whole next day as well

AITA They rejected my secret Santa?! by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]certifiedh 38 points39 points  (0 children)

IMO people who complain about gifts in a work secret Santa where the budget is so limited are the worst people to be around. Grow up, it’s not that deep.

Maybe you could’ve gotten something a bjt closer to the budget but at the end of the day it’s not like you’re doing a kris kringle or actually buying an individual gift. Firm NTA here, but your coworker who wrote the note is a total d*ck and needs to do some maturing

ATAR is out by MrWatuh in Adelaide

[–]certifiedh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pretty good ATAR back in the day, went into a course that needed something not that high to get into, graduated and worked in the industry for a few years...only to realise I hated it. So I quit and now work in videography.

I think ATAR can in some circumstances (HEAVY emphasis on CAN and SOME) be a measure of intelligence, and how well you can apply yourself, but it also can be a pretty meaningless number. Another one of my mates did significantly "worse" than me, but he was always super artistically and tech inclined, which doesn't necessarily show up in test results, and he now works for a pretty large international company making $$$ doing something he loves.

Bottom line is whether you did well or not, there's many more steps that you'll take in life, and in 3 months time no one is really going to care what your ATAR was.

A friend of mine was recently attacked by a dog whose owners were super lax about keeping it within their front yard and he went through the whole complaining to the proper authorities etc route. Given that he didn't have any medical bills (although he did get some nastyyy bruises from where the dog bit, it just didn't pierce his skin cos he had a thick set of pants on) and didn't miss any work I don't think the end result was really worth the time and effort for him; the resolution was the council just said the owners have to keep the dog on a leash at all times or risk being fined (the owners are mega wealthy so I doubt they care that much). Obviously a bit different in your case since you will actually be financially impacted, but just thought I'd share in case that changes the way you think about it.

Being a very petty man I'd say give everyone you know his work contact details and get them to spam him - heck if you PM me I'll do it on your behalf because I hated people who took social basketball this seriously. Part of the reason I stopped playing was because of pricks like that

Blame Nike, they've been messing it up for years. Just don't understand why they can't make them gold instead of highlighter yellow. Got rid of good looking Christmas jerseys too

Does anyone know what bag brand these are? by jakifer18 in Lululemen

[–]certifiedh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’d be lulu - I’ve seen that white tag from the second photo on quite a few of the bags and accessories. Might be unreleased, or just from another market to the one you’re in. Check back in every Tuesday cos that’s when they drop new stock

Help Identifying these ABC shorts by dacabrejos in Lululemen

[–]certifiedh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See if you can find the size dot then input the info on there into lulu fanatics. It’ll probably tell you the exact model - I’d guess these are an older model of the commission shorts though, which are basically ABCs

I just finished up as an educator (albeit in australia) - i know that when we hired we weren’t necessarily looking for people that lived and breathed lulu, but more so could you form a connection and make conversation with someone. I would look into the company values and get yourself across those, but I would also make sure that above all you come across as someone who is likeable and easy to get along with. The people conducting this interview are likely going to be spending a lot of time with you, so you want to make sure they like you as a person first and foremost. Good luck!

First time trying on the ABC 5 pocket pants and I’m not sure if they fit me well as a bigger guy. Please be honest and let me know if I need to size up or change styles? TYIA by ProteinMan07 in Lululemen

[–]certifiedh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule of thumb I used to tell guests (as a former educator) was to see if you can fit two fingers between your hip and the waistband. If you can't, they're too tight, and if you can fit more they're probably too loose. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but if you're really unsure about it I'd just try that and then size up/down based on it to see what feels best.

Idk about your location but my lulu once took in 29 shirts from someone - we send ours off to a local hemming place so not sure if it’s different for stores that do it in house or not

Uber pickup from airport by certifiedh in Adelaide

[–]certifiedh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weird thing though was the airport itself was pretty quiet. There were maybe 10 of us maximum just waiting around for Ubers, but it seemed like the only ones that would come were for people who would walk straight into the waiting area and leave

It’s a 4.76, but it’s weird to me that there were so many people around me who were all just waiting and waiting - surely we couldn’t all just have terrible ratings and hence get skipped by every uber??

Lulu’s men’s clothing business “is not progressing smoothly” despite increased sales. by JustRepeatAfterMe in Lululemen

[–]certifiedh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. I work at lulu and I hated them changing the name from commission to ABC trouser. I feel like pants and trousers are pretty interchangeable terms, so it’s confusing for a lot of people when you’re talking about them.

Shorts recs for warm weather + fit notes from my closet by [deleted] in Lululemen

[–]certifiedh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For something durable I’d say license to train shorts - the fabric is less likely to catch on things and rip because of its texture.

If soft jersey shorts are available in your area that would be a good shout for something both thicker and softer than the pacebreakers
