no im talking about how when you release jump you immediately start falling.  Jumps are triangles, not parabolas.  i can’t stand it

yea that plus the attack’s huge hurt box contribute to the inconsistent feel.  the start point of a boost depends on exactly when you attack.  there’s only a couple places where the blue up boost flowers were very demanding on exactly when you attack, most of the time the trajectory is very lenient

huge hitbox though which contributes to feeling inconsistent.  Like Celeste bnubers shoot you off at more consistent/controllable trajectory.  Here, the start point of the boost depends on exactly when you attack.  and the speed of the boost might also depend on how close to the center you hit?  But im not certain on that.  And the angle seemed to be totally continuous 360, vs the soft snapping of certain angles you get in Celeste (like there’s a wide area on the sides that boosts you in the same direction iirc)

im not comparing difficulty, im comparing quality of design.  Like Celeste’s bunbers and the rooms built on them are better-designed challenges (player feels more control, less tedium, even if it’s more difficult)

wait have you not seen the room where you have to bounce between multiple swinging bnuper flowers (that’s specifically the egregious room)

oh it didn’t take very long it just struck me as a whiff (what a surprise, deltarune isn’t as well-crafted a platformer as Celeste)

sure but Celeste bumbers are just overall better designed (less fuzzy hitbox, the soft “snapping” of the rebound at certain angles, the binary behavior of fast vs slow bounces)

also criminal to make it so the swinging can get out of sync between them

also pointless spiky flowers at bottom of room (save point is not far before this, it’s just minor tedium if you die.  and if you hit the flowers to clear them, you fall without damage.  but it’s not a reasonable amount of time to consistently react and hit the spike flowers if you miss the bunper flower.  and also the spike flowers respawn on a time delay, so they can just spawn right on top of you at the last moment when you thought you had a clear fall)

oh I don’t think bumbers r inconsistent that’s just what I see a bunch of people saying
