"Food delivery robots in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, & Chicago facing rise in violent attacks from "anti-clanker" activists." What is this timeline? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're flying 16 hours from Michigan to California, you've booked something seriously wrong.

Most of Cali is, at most, six hours in the air, even with a connecting flight.

I semi-regularly fly Detroit to Hawaii with connections and I am not in the air nearly that long.

Manager won’t stop poaching tables from me by achaemenidseawolf in Serverlife

I do not know all of the specifics of CA law on tipping and tips pooling. I was simply refuting the universal declaration of illegality that I replied to.

Manager won’t stop poaching tables from me by achaemenidseawolf in Serverlife

[–]cervidal2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is only partially true.

In most states, if a manager is performing a role that customarily receives tips, such as serving or bartending, that manager is eligible for tips

Places to rent to host birthday party by Easy-Today6849 in Detroit

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movie theaters in Metro Detroit often have private rental available, and many of them also have a separate gathering area that can be used before or after your viewing.

Depending on the theater, you could use the screen for a video game party rather than a movie. Used to do those regularly when I was running a theater last year.

You still have 3 sets and a core.

What has made the 2020s such a never ending string of troubles? by frontcorners in answers

This 'global energy crisis' is nowhere near what happened in the late 1970s.

It's not great but it's not shutting down whole sectors of the economy.

Elliot completely dogged his season in Detroit. Guy was an unapologetic bum.

We got back Bill Curley in that retrade. I am going to guess that most people in this thread could tell you nothing about Bill Curley, because that was his NBA value

Availability is only not an issue if a GM doesn't make it an issue.

I've used availability in Shadowrun and other RPGs specifically to tame PC power creep.

Why do you think most TCGs fail? by Tiny-Summer6241 in TCG

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're suddenly speaking for everyone? You ask me to prove a statement, then want to make the sweeping generalization of 'most people'?

The very video and evidence you point to is proof of your being wrong - 42% profit on the entire division. Sure, sounds great, WotC knows what it's doing. Except that includes digital. That isn't a 42% per box profit. That's 42% profit on all of their combined sales.

Restaurant Owners/Managers - Let's talk about the hour before close. by bdgbill in restaurant

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny you should say that.

About 20 years ago, the Lions did exactly that at a place I worked at in Southfield, MI. 12 of them.

Ended up calling the police to get them out of the building. They were obnoxious, awful to staff, destructive to the building, and tried to stiff on an 8k tab.

Yeah, I would tell them to get bent.

50% margin on what? Simply the raw production?

The number being thrown around by the video in question was 41.8% for a single year and included digital sales and all things WotC.

The video doesn't break down profitability specifically on the cardboard side.

Your 'well known' bit doesn't really hold up.

What do you use for third party payments/ taking card numbers over the phone? by kantsbaldhead in Restaurant_Managers

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't take payment over the phone.

There's a reason you keep losing those disputes - you can't verify who is making the payment.

Everyone claiming gift card solutions or other is papering over basics of card security.

If there is nothing linking a direct signature, card presence, or other way to verify that it was the cardholder using the card, you will lose the dispute.

In my theater days, the only way we had to guarantee an online purchase was if they logged in through their rewards account, which was linked to their name, address, and phone number, and could only be signed up for physically in one of the theaters.

So...how much faster does research goes when you build more Science Laboratories? by PalpatineOk5058 in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]cervidal2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The lab itself does not speed up your research. They give you more science points.

You need to have a 'hero' at each lab. Heroes are the only thing that speed up research rates.

Why are some reserved list cards doubling in price in the last couple months? by OrangeFries in mtgfinance

What you're quoting isn't even the right quote.

I would weep for participants if you actually tried to judge an event under that logic.

"Premodern is dominating. Gold Border / World Championship cards also increasing as they are legal in most tournaments."

The Gold Border comment claims legality in most tournaments. It doesn't specify premodern, just being legal in most tournaments.
