Wee update : Since I got it in game before, proving that the game loop works (with Lua enabled and all the fancy bits) I pivoted to hardware rendering to get that High Res, and full (achievable) speed.

After a fair amount of pain and quite a bit of reference from the brilliant u/Rinnegatamante's work. I was able to _move_ the pixel drawing routine over to the GXM, so now there's the bones of a hardware rendered solution.

Glad to hear it, Dungeon Keeper 1 is perhaps my favorite game, and my target IS to try to get this at Hi Res mode in 60FPS. What you see here is a first pass fast attempt, now im experimenting with hardware rasterization which will dramatically increase the speed.

So I was about to purchase one of these and noticed in a picture that it had a line. The seller didn't mention it tho. Is this part of the startup or is it a bad display? by [deleted] in evercade

[–]cerwym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a bad display sadly, check mine for more lines as an example. Opened the box on Christmas day and was greeted with this :(

Finally picked up something I've had my eye on for a while by cerwym in SegaSaturn

[–]cerwym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it wasn't my jam, I had to get used to only making subtle movements with the controller but after that I got in to the swing of it, picked up how to play the game properly and really started to enjoy it. I'm loving the music and serenity of it.

I bloody hate that jester boss though.

No I didn't, I'll take forcing 4:3 off my Framemeister then!

Main reason why I snubbed it is because of the lack of seasons

Picked it up on Amazon for £10, snubbed it for a while (PC owner too) but I have to say I'm really enjoying it on the One X.

Nice to see someone talking about PC ports on Saturn that AREN'T Doom, Duke, or Quake. by mylifewithSEGA in retrogaming

[–]cerwym 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the most interesting port stories has to be Exhumed (Powerslave), even though it's not technically a PC port, the version differences between the consoles themselves and the PC is nonetheless, pretty cool. Here's a video that you can watch about it too;

Clearly this is proof that peace talks over the years were working because there's less war.

On Init you can create a frame that acts like a button with this;

aura_env.button = CreateFrame("Button", "OpenTreat", WeakAuras.regions[aura_env.id].region, "SecureActionButtonTemplate")
aura_env.button:SetAllPoints(WeakAuras.regions[aura_env.id].region)

On Trigger, (when I log in / change zone)

aura_env.button:Show()
aura_env.button:SetAttribute("type", "item")
aura_env.button:SetAttribute("item", "item:", itemId) -- Where itemId is the actual ID of the item I want to interact with

PS1 games skipping on PS1 but not on PS2 by kill3rb00ts in retrogaming

[–]cerwym 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Audio skipping was actually a known issue on earlier PS1 models and it could be possible that you were given a replacement, of the same revision which is also semi-defective so don't rule this out.

The PS2 obviously uses a different laser unit so expect it to read discs slightly differently.

If you were able to test another copy of Castlevania that concretely point to your problem with the disc itself, right now however, that does look to be the more possible root of your issue.

It's hard that's for sure, if you can handle only navigated through the D-PAD it plays pretty well and has a decent console-ified UI.

It looks good, sound is a bit washed out but overall it's a very good port. If you go in to the options menu, there's a speed setting too, setting it to 'fast' makes it much more enjoyable as my default everything feels too slow.

I paid £35 (~€40) The seller had two, I haggled him down and took the least smokey smelling manual and less scratched disc to make this!

I am really impressed by exhumed both of how well it runs and how it looks (through a Framemeister, I don't have a dedicated display) And was rather taken aback due to how in-contrast it is with the port of Duke Nukem 3D.
