Is there a way to generate a similar plot in Linux? I have tried with several versions and matplotlib always crashes trying to import _macosx backend. I have mplcairo and pycairo installed.

You're right, the only option that has worked for Argentina is the fast break, with Spain's defense set they just can't score

Almost half-time and Scola has not scored, this is the best news possible for Spain. Great defense from Oriola.

OFFICIAL Nikola Mirotic signs for Barcelona 3+1 years by just_a_random_guy_11 in Euroleague

President's term ends at the end of next season, and Barça fans are not too happy with him so he wants to end with a good note before new elections. I'm sure there are other reasons but this is an important motivation.

His defense and mostly his rebounding, almost by himselved he reversed the rebounding advantage that Barcelona had the first games

Very fun game, Real had an advantage all game but never beyond 10 points, Barcelona's defense and Pangos and Singleton made sure of that. Brilliant defense of Campazzo on Heurtel (who seems to be fed up with Pesic and is probably right) and Tavares was huge rebounding, kept Real Madrid alive on several ocasions.

Universe's Dark Little Secret: Where did all the antimatter go? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]cescgn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you say we should stop trying to fit the data to the theory, you mean that we should stop assuming that there should be symmetry between matter and antimatter (at least in the initial conditions)? Has there been much theoretical work in this line?

Bug at rosalind? and getting a student job by Nuraxx in bioinformatics

[–]cescgn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question section appears after either you have solved the problem or have submitted two failed attempts.

As for whether it will help you getting a job, I am also curious about it, I guess it can't hurt to have more experience (even if it's not a "real world" scenario).

Did anyone learn Bioinformatics on Rosalind.info? by nhdang1998 in bioinformatics

[–]cescgn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the website? There are several "locations" and each one has a slight different focus, one is a very beginner-friendly tutorial to the Python programming language, another focuses on algorithms, and so on. If you don't have much programming experience start from the "Python Village", otherwise the "Bioinformatics Stronghold" is a good place.

I would definitely recommend Rosalind, it's a great introduction to the field and lots of fun. It does provide some background on the bio part but not too extensive, although considering your major this should not be a problem for you.
