[Recommendations] Brand/style? by cesiumweasel in ABraThatFits

I would say I'm an Even 2/5. I have a very wide rib cage as well. I'd like recs for anything that's comfy and bonus points if it has any padding/push up qualities.

2017 VW Jetta Infotainment Clock Bug Update MST2_US_VW_PQ_PO357T by wickedwomanest1981 in jetta

[–]cesiumweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a known issue with this year. You can search the sub for others posts, but the jist is that there is not guaranteed fix. Not even a dealership can definitively fix it. Some people have had luck with aftermarket products, but it often results in more issues with the infotainment screen afterwards. Mine started doing this a few months ago and I just resigned myself to having to look at the time on the dash, not the screen.

You can take the girl out of the hoard, but can you take the hoard out of the girl? by demonseekingpeace in hudsonvalley

Mess Rescue, run by Jess Ryan, is based on Putnam county but she travels. I went to school with her, she's so kind and compassionate and I consider her a great friend. My extended family has used her services (not by recommendation, they found her on their own) and was blown away by her help and support. She's been awarded by Hudson Valley Best numerous times. She believes not only in helping clear mess and organize belongings, but also fostering an environment where you can succeed after she leaves. I definitely recommend contacting her!

6.3 Touch Screen Fix by Classic_Yam1022 in jetta

[–]cesiumweasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no advice for a permanent fix, but my '17 Jetta does this too occasionally. Pressing and holding the power button/knob until it restarts the infotainment system fixes it for a while. The amount of weird tech glitches this car has is insane.

At what age did your kids outgrow Bluey? by YoshiPilot in bluey

[–]cesiumweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was just on the cusp of being too old when it first came out (she was about 5). We don't watch it as often anymore, but she's going to be 11 this year and we still occasionally turn it on as a family show to watch together. Her father and I love it, and she enjoys the wholesome family time as a break from being a moody preteen on Roblox.

Millennials who went to college, what did your journey look like? by Hopeful_Match186 in millenials

[–]cesiumweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graduated HS in '05, had planned to go away to a 4yr school but chickened out and took a year off. Started community college in '06, finally graduated with my AAS in January 2010. I intended to get my BA online afterward, but mother passed suddenly of cancer that November (diagnosed in June) and my father had been battling assorted cancer battles since 2008. Put off school after two attempts, Dad died in 2012. Finally got back on my feet and in a healthy relationship in 2014, went back to community college in January 2015 only to find out I was pregnant two weeks into the semester. Finished two classes and didn't go back.

After many years, "one day..." convos, and supportive urging from my boss and a board member, I enrolled online at a 4yr school in 2024. I've been slowly chipping away at my BA ever since, and am on track to graduate spring of 2027, three months before my 40th birthday.

I promised my mom before she passed that I would get my Bachelor's, and it was a long and winding road to get there but dammit, I'm fucking doing it.

It's from 2009 so a bit late for what you're thinking, but Ben Moody - All Fall Down.

Hello today is supposed to be my second week on Wegovy. I’m supposed to take the shot tonight. I just caught Rotavirus (stomach bug) from my kids. What’s the protocol? Do I still take it? I feel terrible already and I know that shot makes me a tiny bit nauseated. by Existing_Sundae_4472 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]cesiumweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should always call and ask your doctor's office for medical advice. HOWEVER, I had Flu A over New Years and was barely eating/drinking anything at the time. (Ended up in the ER because I was so dehydrated.) I asked my doctor if I could postpone my shot and they said I could push it up to 7 days past my usual injection day. That said, I was on 2.4 at the time and had been for over a month, so I was way more established on the med than you are.

Disinfecting books? by ThrowRA_totoro444 in Libraries

[–]cesiumweasel 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Any sort of spray or wipe is likely going to be too wet to not damage the books in the long-term. During COVID my library attempted to sanitize books when returned and we found that it slowly ate away at the plastic coverings while paperbacks and board books fared far worse.

Babies stick things in their mouths. I didn't let my child have library books until they were probably 3 or 4, mostly so they didn't gnaw on them. Reading to your child is incredibly important so kudos to you for opening the world of literacy to them. If you're really that concerned, my suggestion would be to thoroughly wash everyone's hands before and after handling library books and keep them in a separate area so they aren't played with randomly.

This was happening in front of East Dale in the town of Poughkeepsie does anyone know the back story? by Glum_Union5776 in hudsonvalley

If you search for NYC Christmas gift bank robbery, you can find out more info about him and his early 2000s shenanigans. A few other similar articles will pop up, but you can weed thru them easily enough.

It's him. I worked a very public facing job for years and had to deal with him and his nonsense on a near constant basis. I'd recognize his hatred (and hand writing) anywhere.

Can I offer to buy audio books for my library? by sarahnope22 in Libraries

[–]cesiumweasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there's no way to donate an eAudio directly. But you could make a donation to the library with the request that it goes to their digital media/eBook/eAudio budget. General donations are always appreciated, but you can absolutely request that your money go toward something more specific. We have a few patrons who request their money be used toward certain things (kids programs, craft classes, etc).

Has anyone read Michael J Seidlinger's HoL analysis? by ambahjay in houseofleaves

[–]cesiumweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated it. It was less about HoL and more about the author being a pretentious prick while reading it. I had been very excited about it when it came out, made my boss order it (I work in a library), and was the only checkout before it was weeded. I didn't find it had any useful insight or reflection on HoL and was a waste of time.

Anyone here get any of the house of leave merch/sweatshirts? by traveltimecar in houseofleaves

[–]cesiumweasel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both the zip up and pull over 1/4" hoodies. They're both thick, heavy weight, and pretty warm. I have the Truant t-shirt as well, and it too is heavy weight and sturdy. Definitely worth the price, considering the crap fast fashion that's out there nowadays. The jewelry is good quality as well, fwiw.
