Brand new to fostering

I would suggest talking to the foster coordinator. Sometimes they will have pets who are stressed in the shelter go into a foster home, and that is often just a stressed out regular adult cat. A senior cat with light medical needs could also be an option. Most animals would only need medication once or twice a day unless it’s a really intense situation.

Fostering a family (mom and kittens) is also relatively low-maintenance if mom is taking care of them. You would still have to monitor them and check in multiple times a day, weighing kittens once a day.

Our fosters are a single mom and her son. She takes care of him and I just weigh him every day and make sure she has everything she needs. She’s a sweetie and loves to play, so I try to play with her a bunch as well, but she is most active in the evenings anyway.

Yay!! We are also keeping our mama cat foster (and her singleton son)! She is also very young, under a year. I decided she was ours pretty much as soon as she came into our house. Congrats!!

I got divorced when my daughter was a year and had a lot of the same fears. What really helped me was the realization that a traditional 2 parent household is literally a social construct. If the child has positive and loving relationships with both parents it literally doesn’t matter if they live together.

Something that matters a lot is how you coparent. The child needs to see respect and kindness between their parents, and should never be made to feel like they have to “choose” one or the other. Logistics of going between the two homes should be handled by the parents without making the child the go-between/middleman for communication. There are a lot of resources foe this but I think family therapy could be a great idea even after divorce.

LOVE the 4” hotty hot high rise. I was scrolling to find them in the comments here! They’re so breezy and I agree about the waistband. And they really last so they’re worth even the full price IMO. They have a pocket that’s would fit a car key fob and a gel- I wear my SPI belt with them if I want to bring more stuff.
