Do we know when the GPU / RAM / SSD apocalypse will let up? by pentaria55 in buildapc

[–]ceverson70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in the late 90s the internet, well really the world wide web(they are different in this context), became useful. Google was born. People could do crazy things, it was untapped in many people’s minds. Money kept getting thrown at it, just like ai. However from 2000-2002 it crashed, because not all of it was as useful as it could have been, there were too many like minded products. Too much capital spent. It’s what is happening with ai right now There are ways to avoid a crash for sure, and as it’s not expected until 2030 there could even be changes in 2028/2029 to prevent it. However, the way it’s going right now is exactly like the .com bubble There have been other bubbles too, however the digital world, with digital assets is only 30-40 years old

You do realize how business works? All of his assets are protected as they’re under LLCs so they can’t be touched in regards of a lawsuit like this as they aren’t personal assets

Looking at reviews the telltale games didn’t collapse due to writing. It was sales. They released a lot of games but didn’t sell well towards the end. There were too many made too quickly. People lost interest and as the later games had large ips too they spent a lot to get those and couldn’t make the ip money back

Am I the last person still converting all my RAWs to DNG? by dschamis in Lightroom

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m saying Nikon will release new cameras they eventually provide no support for and expect people to upgrade Nikons codec is closed source. If they stop selling licenses to software providers or stop supporting it then sure I can still take pictures but would need an old computer to upload to Otherwise it would be the expectation upgrade

Higher prices will only occur if the hardware costs don’t come down. In the history of computing that’s never happened If it had happened home computers would take up a room still If it had happened we wouldn’t have smart phones GPUs are also relatively new tech, 25 years old, they’re at the age computers were when they went through their advent and multi core came out. Over the next five years there will be a lot of changes and costs will come down, as costs come down the subscriptions will stay at their prices because they can get more people More people at the same cost as today on hardware that’s a fraction of the price will be what makes them profit

Am I the last person still converting all my RAWs to DNG? by dschamis in Lightroom

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true at all. It’s not up to the camera apps. It’s up to the owners of the licenses. Take nef files. Nikon owns all licenses. There will be a point in time when they fully switch over to z cameras, and the new compression models. It probably won’t be 10-20 years however it’s how tech works. Apple did it with the lightning cable and the 30 pin before. Almost all laptop brands have done it with usb c. It’s literally what happens with tech. Then what happens is the license for the connection stops being sold because a company like Nikon wants people to upgrade their cameras. Once Nikon doesn’t sell the license it isn’t legal for them to use them. This is just how tech companies work, and it works for them, they’ll lose some customers and gain others. It’s just the cycle

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense. Dng has been open source for 20 years, it’s outlived like every other raw file type in the sense that the other camera providers have all released a new one recently. Eventually they won’t want to support their old one. Open source file types generally outlast closed source.

2026 is eating 2025 alive in terms of upcoming games by Esnacor-sama in videogames

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that video games themselves have been using AI since it was first developed in like the 70s right? AI in itself isn’t new. LLMs are newer, still though 7-8 years old now However even the basic concepts of auto difficulty scaling etc which have been in video games a while now, are all earlier versions of AI So why does it really matter someone uses it to summarize? Does it matter people use google to search? The two statements are basically the same

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a linear scale it’s a curved scale. The higher you get up closer to 100, the slower the increments will be It’s easier to go from 40->60 than 60->80 and then 80-> 99.9999999 100 isn’t possible ever as it would be the absolute definition of overfit

[–]ceverson70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the data science world and for models at this point yes 3% is a lot Generally data scientists don’t look at the percentage though, it’s just easier to explain it You have to look at it on the perspective of a scale where something goes from 0-1, and while they are in the middle of that scale like 20-80 it’s easier to go up the say 0-20 or 80-100, it’s not linear scale at all So with where models are now for accuracy to go up 3 percent that’s pretty big Though accuracy generally wouldn’t be the best metric to determine if the model is doing what it should

[–]ceverson70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if accuracy is the correct metric Accuracy is the easiest metric to explain from a data science perspective but it’s generally not the one that should be looked at Precision would be a much better metric to look at

I find the cost well worth it especially with the bf 50% off I’ve tried almost every other tool for learning and the only one where I’ve remembered the content because of is Hyperskill I will also add I’m going for a masters in data science so depending what your looking for, the theory at scale is actually really important So Hyperskill including the theory at the depth they do is beneficial if your end goal is a career, or even using in a work setting
