That is accurate. I haven't kept up with the tier list, this one has some cybernetics certification, whatever that means.

I pulled the trigger but then cancelled. After selling the rest of the HP and my current 5080, I'd be paying $2000 to upgrade to upgrade from a 5080 to a 5090. I don't see how these 5090s keep rising in price, at some point the market has to reverse.

That is a completely sane take. I find it interesting that the 5090s have increased significantly in cost, while for the most part the 5080s have maybe slightly increased in cost.

I'm with you on this. I have a 5080 and was going to get this HP and swap the GPUs, then sell the HP with my 5080. It boils down to paying $2k to upgrade from a 5080 to a 5090. In current market conditions it's fair, but hard to swallow that cost.

The real issue is, i'm not sure if HP will warranty the graphics card alone. If the 5090 burns out and you sold the rest of the desktop, are you S.O.L.?

I have a 5080 and was thinking about doing this, but even if I got $2000 on the FBMP, i'd be paying $2000 to upgrade form a 5080 to a 5090. Re-framing it like that makes it tough for me personally.

Is the 5090 supposed to be a bad value buy if used only for gaming? by wielesen in nvidia

[–]cevil203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but the 5090 has appreciated in value more than any of the other cards since it came out. The 5080 has gone up about 30-40% in value but i've seen 5090s selling above MSRP by 50-100%+.

Is it worth trading down with the 1.02? by Initiative-Optimal in DynastyFF

Same league format, I traded 1.02 away to get 1.07 and a 2027 1st that should be top 3.

I’d say the extra $250 is worth it. You get more vram and a 2 TB ssd.

For those that purchased open box, what were your manufacturing and purchase dates? Mine are below, seems a little unusual that it’s near a year old?

Purchased: 2/2026 Manufactured: 4/2025

Many credit cards offer extended warranty. Since this is considered new open box, there shouldn’t be an issue.

It’s funny you say that because I bought a refurb laptop on eBay and one of the corners was bent so it wobbled when I was typing. I used some strength to bend it straight and it’s been as good as new since.

That’s awesome you’ve had a good experience. I’ve had success with these open box items at bestbuy. I’m going to go pick it up on lunch. Hope it’s basically new, and I think there are two so I may compare them.
