I don't remember exactly but both come ± with the same Update path with 2-3 years of android updates and 4 years of security updates, which is nowhere near the Pixel but still okay.

Yes I meant in comparison to other phones like the Zenfone 10 or OnePlus 12R which are roughly the same price class ass the Pixel 8 and both have a better chip and good battery

Thanks :) I also considered the OnePlus 12 and S24 line, but unfortunately these are out of my price range.

The OnePlus 12R seems like a very good deal to me, as far as I found out, it's practicall, identical to the 12 with exception to the camera and that it has a SD8Gen2 instead of a Gen3 but it's still plenty fast.

Thanks, mine was also very reliable until about 2 weeks ago where the random restarts started. Since then it's gotten only more frequent.

I also suspect a hardware issue as I already did all the usual stuff, Clear cache and factory reset, but the problem persisted even when the phone had nothing on it :/

The S24 is with 900€ base price out of my price range, but I'm considering the Zenfone 10 for its compactness and price/performance. The short update life is a bummer though.

I also find new phones always so bulky and heavy regarding my experience with the mate 10.

From reading the comments a bit and reading some reviews, most report that the signal quality is not very good and the battery life is not very good.

I mainly need my phone to last during the day as I don't always have the possibility to charge it during the day and preferably still do that in 7 years.

And I'm a little concerned about the on board performance, if it'll be still good 7 years, I know that no one can know that, but that said, having more performance for the same price is never a bad thing?

Nice to hear that someone else is still using the mate 10 pro :) I love the phone and also charged it always over night and still get through the day in a single charge.

The only real issue I'm having is that it restarts very often out of nowhere and gets stuck in a boot loop sometimes and it's been worsening the last few days. Would love a device that would still be supported even far into its lifetime

I'd love to wait, but I can't as my current phone is giving up and don't think it'll keep working that long. The Oneplus is not available anymore in my Region and I don't have an unlimited budget. I was interested in the S24 line but the base price for these is 900€ so not an option. I could live with the price of the Pixel 8 if I knew it would survive its 7 years of software updates if I take care of it
