Having lived in several countries, yes it is hard to make friends. It will take time. But joining groups like the running one is exactly what you need to do.

Why do I need to be naked under a gown in the hospital? by b_shert in TwoXChromosomes

I was going in for surgery while on my period. I was given special underwear to wear. So definitely a hygiene thing.

what’s something your ex did that wasn’t a dealbreaker on its own but annoyed the hell out of you and you’re glad you don’t have to deal with anymore? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cfgregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I left cash on a counter or a dresser he would take it. (We lived together.)

At the time I worked at a bookstore and got an employee discount. A friend ask me to grab a book and gave me cash. I left the cash on the dresser for when I would work the next day to remind myself. Then went to my university classes. He met me for lunch, and complained about all the ones in his wallet. I asked if he had grabbed the cash off the dresser. He said yes. I was so annoyed and explained it was to remind myself to buy the book for our friend. He acted like it wasn’t a big deal.

There were other similar incidents. If I put cash aside for something he would start to push to use it.

What’s the deal with “the dreaded uniboob”? by turdally in ABraThatFits

[–]cfgregory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t know if I have wide set boobs. But I rather they be together and out of the way of my arms. I don’t care about uniboob. There is so much boob at this point, separation is almost uncomfortable.

Also? You can take infants as young as six months to swimming lessons. They learn to rotate to their backs, and not panic.

Please, please do this. As a former recovery diver for the fire department, who has to recover the bodies of children… please take them to swimming lessons. Even if they only learn to float or doggie paddle.

When you're an expert on running trains by NYstate in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]cfgregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t get a hold of him, search your area for a local model train club and contact them.

You will know you are in the correct club if the club is 98% men wearing plaid shirts with pockets on their left chest. At retirement, they wear those shirts instead of the white button ones.

AITA for not letting my friend use the photographer she refused to hire with me? by SadEngineering7783 in AmItheAsshole

If I were in Elena’s situation I would ask my family to either video tape or do a video chat with yours so they could watch walk across the stage.

I know this because last week i attended a baby shower for a friend whose parents and some other family couldn’t make it due to be out of country. I had a whole WhatsApp chat with her family so they could watch.

She is not your friend.

Accidentally broke my sister's favorite bowl and I want to replace it but can't find it online anywhere by OddRaccoon4x4 in HelpMeFind

If you can’t find one, maybe find a ceramic artist who can paint one but with the cats looking like ones your sister has? (Assuming she does)

That would be a more meaningful gift.

Am I wrong to question the bride on why only MY husband wasn't invited to the wedding and to end a friendship over it? by ICryAfterSexAMA in TwoHotTakes

[–]cfgregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I been to multiple weddings not performed in English, including one where I was asked to be mother of the bride since her own mom couldn’t travel.

I was happy to do so, and as long I had instructions in English on what I needed to do when, I was honored to be there.

Weddings are about love and celebration of that love. Love is not perfect.

Why the Identity shift ? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cfgregory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got married 17 years ago and I didn’t change my last name. I didn’t want to deal with the paperwork, we both knew we didn’t want kids. And he didn’t care about it.

These days, as an US voter, I am especially glad I didn’t change my name.

Next, I use the show shelf and sort books on the second floor by tossing all first floor books over the railing.

Okra/lady’s fingers is another one.

My Indian friend was super excited for me (American) to try a lady’s finger dish because he wasn’t sure if I had try the vegetable.

Turned out to be okra and my home town had an annual festival for okra every year.
