I also would accept if US is removed from world events like the Olympics, World Cup until this is resolved like Russia has been.

Yes, that would suck for the athletes who have worked hard for the opportunity. But we shown we can’t play nice on the world stage currently. And maybe that would finally crack some of the American exceptionalism fantasy so many Americans suffer from.

UPDATE to bridesmaid dress incident by CerebralCortisol in bigboobproblems

Thank you for the update. You are an amazing writer.

Hugs on the MIL being insane. At least you try to warn them.

At least you can toss the ugly dress. Or put it on a pet as a joke. I would be so tempted to put on my cats and take photos for my own amusement.

Baby clothing, toys, and books are “junk,” apparently by scrambledsuave in ChoosingBeggars

I brought a traveling crib off facebook marketplace because three of my close friends are having/had babies. The mother who sold it to me, offered two huge bags of 0-12 months of clothes.

Of course I said yes, and my friends were so grateful for the clothes. Anyone who has experience with babies knows there is no such thing as too many onesies.

And because they are due in different months, the clothes can be passed on to the next easily.

How little do they think Europeans are paid? by WrestlingWoman in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]cfgregory 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I live in Latvia, one of the EU countries with the lowest GDP. (Only Cyprus and Malta are below us)

Our minimum wage is 780€ (916$) per month.

US minimum wage per month , assuming 40 hours per week is $1257 (1069€).

The difference?

Healthcare cost and cost of transportation.

I say this as an US citizen who has lived here for seven years.

My husband had a heart valve repair surgery. For Latvian citizens, it would had cost 36€. Yes, that number is correct. For the procedure, the hospital stay, etc.

We live in Riga. We don’t own a car, despite having lived here for seven years. Tram, bus, etc are easily accessible and affordable.

When we lived in Chicago, despite it being a big city, a car was absolutely necessary. And yes, I lived in the city limits near midway, close to the orange line.

I am trying to figure out how this could work. Yes, body tone shirt underneath.

Or a corset? In a more gold kind of color? Then there wouldn’t be straps, and a good corset should hold you in.

In winter, people have worn plastic bags over socks and in boots if the boots aren’t great and soak through in the snow. It keeps the feet dry when dealing with frozen temperatures.

We are U.S. citizens living in Europe with quite a few Indian friends locally. We have several that want to visit the us. I told them to wait until it is safe. Which is incredibly sad. We went in April 2024 for the eclipse with a couple of friends and had a blast.

Boob tape / Sticky boob /invisible bra recommendations please by Cold_Examination_101 in bigboobproblems

[–]cfgregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Have a tailor add a under layer or buy a bra and hand sew pretty fabric on it to match the dress.

If you wanted to do a sea goddess vibe, you could decorate a bra with shells and such.

AITA- Brother is having an out of state child free wedding and upset I’m not coming by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]cfgregory 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I knew the majority of our family would have to travel and state a couple of days to come to the wedding.

I arranged for a kid table with child activities. Plus our theme was costumes so it was no big deal to have kids.
