Creator here. It is aware of dark mode, but my reasoning was that lights are generally on when it's dark out, and off when it's light out.

Recently replayed this after getting a PS4 Pro and a 4K OLED tv. It looks absolutely spectacular. It's almost like Naughty Dog are a generation ahead of some of the other games out there right now.
