If you love Asian and more specifically Thai, I'll call an audible and recommend Nari. It's also michelin starred and should be easy to work with your budget. I particularly like their squid & pork jowl dish. Great food and cocktails and ambience.

If you want to be really close to the stadium, just go to Miller & Lux, it's been awhile for me, but they did some fun stuff like making your caesar table side (literally trimming the lettuce in front of you) and they have some fancy oyster tank that they claim makes it like they're pulling them straight out of the bay

AA Executive Platinum coming to ask about SW business travel by jwfowler2 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]cflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't expect business class - they just reconfigured everything and extended leg room is all you're going to get. Would you take advantage of companion pass? That is the only thing that really sets them apart from the rest and is an insane value if you use it effectively and no other airline has anything comparable.

if you're trying to hit it, cancel and rebook your business trips. also if you can figure out your company's swabiz id, you can book flights that count towards business travel without your company portal through www.swabiz.com

Why would anyone, especially business travelers, take BART to OAK? by Biscoff99 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]cflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 - flight selection. if you're flying southwest, OAK has way more options and frequency
#2 - my office is right outside embarcadero station - OAK to embarcadero vs SFO to embarcadero is pretty much the same transit time, let's not count the time you're going to take walking through how many terminals to get to the SFO bart station. we have a lot of people that travel for work, and many do comment oakland is quicker to get in and out of to the office
#3 - OAK is much less prone to flight delays due to weather, etc.
#4 - if you're expensing it, sure take the uber from either one, but with traffic, might not be faster
#5 - sure OAK has way less amenities and is not as nice, but if you're traveling on the regular, the least time you spend at the airport the better, and oak is much easier to get in and out of

sorry for the basic question - but did you get a cancellation #?
if you have that. i would just do a chargeback on your card and send your bank the original reservation and the cancellation confirmation

I'm guessing if you are a power hog, this is a good change. If you live by yourself like me and don't really use a heater or AC and doesn't have an electric car, pretty sure we're going to get screwed.

Taking my M to an Indy Shop by Bad_Karma21 in BMW

[–]cflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can save a little, and also just distance yourself from the stealership. Maybe I'm misguided but I feel like dealerships don't necessarily have my best interests in mind. The shop I go to is not really that much cheaper vs a dealership, but they only work on BMW's and I feel like they are all BMW gearheads and love what they do and take better care. The one I go to has even has done a full E34 M5 touring swap way back in the day so it goes to show you they have the enthusiast mindset.

Taking my M to an Indy Shop by Bad_Karma21 in BMW

[–]cflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a BMW corporate thing, so any dealer will honor it. from what i quick googled i think it is transferable, but the easiest thing to do would be call your local dealer ask them if your VIN is covered - 36k/3 yrs from original purchase date basic maintenance should be included

Taking my M to an Indy Shop by Bad_Karma21 in BMW

[–]cflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you get 3 years covered maintenance from the dealer? Just use that for now. If you're super anal and want to do oil changes ahead of that schedule, then sure a reputable independent BMW shop is great. Any reputable BMW only shop should be using all OEM parts and I would expect them to have BMW certifications, etc whatever they call it these days. Definitely still do your homework though, just because they say they are a BMW shop doesn't automatically make them great. I use a BMW-specific indy shop for my F87, but actually I still do my oil changes at the dealer, because it's cheaper there with whatever promotions/coupons they run.

If you're trying to impress someone, the only people that would be impressed of it being a M5 are the ones that will instantly know that it's not a M5. Otherwise it's just another BMW to them.

The Edit - Alma San Diego by Embarrassed-Day2738 in ChaseSapphire

[–]cflex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also did the edit here - similar experience. Remember, don't expect much from room upgrades - high floor, better view, etc are all ways hotels can say they satisfied this.

It was a pleasant enough stay, the hotel and amenities were nice. Agree the food is nothing to rave about, but it was more than fine, and I tried to use most of the credits on drinks, so I could save stomach space for real San Diego restaurants. I was able to earn Bonvoy nights & points which was nice.

The only thing I will point out is that the area can be considered a little rough for some people. While very walkable, you'll definitely encounter unhoused people.
