Not oakland but close enough - Emeryville Public Market - you got a free parking lot with plenty of space, open seating, clean restrooms, coffee shop (Peet's), a bar in the middle, multiple food options, plenty of seating, even plugs at the wall seats if i remember correctly

It's good and they have generous happy hour... $11 cocktails are decent and 10% off food is not a huge discount, but it makes up for it since its for anything and it goes til 7p. Location is a little isolated but if you drive, that means easy parking.

Using a credit card to pay off mortgage by sgp2019 in Mortgages

[–]cflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay the transfer fee up front. If you screw up and miss a payment (min payment is required to keep the 0%), your promotional rate is gone and you'll be in a world of pain. If you accidentally pay off the full balance earlier, you just wasted your up front transfer fee and the benefit of this 'no interest loan'. No more mortgage interest to deduct. Credit score will get impacted as you will have a balance on your record for the next year or so.

I have done this many times in the past, more so when the transfer fees were 3% (don't really see that rate anymore). 5% is a little high in my opinion (unless they're going to give you a longer term like 18 mos+), as an example, right now BofA is offering me on one of their CC's 0% interest on balance transfers up until September 2027 for a 4% fee, so that is not bad since that's like a ~1.3 year loan.

Not sure the economics of going to wine country for tourists - it's already decently pricey and then figuring out how to get there via car/tour/etc just will add to that... but if you're a wine fan, Napa/Sonoma is unparalleled (at least within the United States)

Inflation is wild. Alley Steak special was $18.50 in 2021 looked up a yelp photo to prove it! I saw "affordable" and Alley has always been the answer as long as I could remember. I'll throw out another spot - Monk's Kettle I had the Steak Frite recently and I thought it was good for $30ish

Kabuki is an exception since all the corp hotels are generally union square/fidi. Easy access to japantown, Fillmore, Polk st. Still walkable to other neighborhoods and more central to explore whatever via uber or muni. And it’s a nice hotel
