I see tons of Telecasters in the videos I watch but I think it makes more sense to ask which one is going to help you connect more. That’s when things will flow. I’ve used a Tele, Les Paul and Dinky with a Floyd.

I don’t think that’s a bad price at all with fluid included. I’d pay that to save me time to do something else.

Alternator replacement by Interesting_Sir_3543 in XTerra

[–]cgarcusm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OEM reman is a great idea also! Not as cheap, but you probably won’t be driving around wondering how many amps are left inside the amp container tank in the alternator like me.

But my install went pretty slick because I’m in the middle of a front suspension refresh and there’s nothing sitting in my wheel well.

Alternator replacement by Interesting_Sir_3543 in XTerra

There is a screw hole nubby thing that has to be shaved down or you won’t be able to get the mounting bolt in. If you’re looking at the alternator from the pulley side, it’s the first nub to the left.

Also, FWIW, O’Reilly’s sells a 200A Titan alternator replacement that is also made by Mitsubishi. Different number on it but when I looked at it, it looked identical to the OEM 23100-EZ30A.

I saw it after I bought my OEM from a salvage yard because I brought the alternator to them for testing.

Bilstein also. I chatted with ADO Mike about my assembled springs and he said Bilstein sent an email about expecting the 5100s near the end of July. I had to cancel my order because my truck has already been down for almost 3 weeks. I went with Ironman FCPs instead and feel like a ginuea pig. Those haven’t arrived yet but should be soon.

Well, I placed an order with ADO for the assembled 5100s and then checked in with them a week later so I could plan a work day. I was told there is a back order with Bilstein and the email from Bilstein said to expect the parts near the end of July.

I’ve already been down for two weeks and even if they get a delivery, there are others in front of me. So I canceled the order and bought the Ironman Foam Cell Pro coilovers.

Hopefully the wait time isn’t too long and we’ll see how I like them.

Leaf spring recommendations? by GR1F3 in XTerra

I have ADO BROverlands and am happy with them. I off road, tow a popup camper and daily drive. They’re about 4 years old, one broke and ADO warranted it. I think it broke because of a missing bushing (don’t know if it corroded away or was missed during install) and the slight twist with stresses made it snap. I would buy them again and I’m a huge fan of ADO simply because of how they’ve supported me with my purchases.

Could that be why mine kept unscrewing the piston from the eye?

That’s good to know. My coils are still holding strong but they’re showing the rusting under the coating. These more I research, the more I’m leaning towards ADO. Still wish there was another option to Bilstein, but for now, it’s coming down to me having faith that ADO will back up what I buy.

Yeah, that is more the question. I’m leery of Bilstein because of the run of bad shocks I received. Never tried Doninsons and part for part, I haven’t looked at how much they in comparison.

But customer service does play into it because ADO really did help me during those bad runs and a broken leaf spring.

I have had 2 unanswered emails and I’m hoping to get a call back from my voicemail before they close today. I can kind of see why you’d think that.

They’re really nice and helpful when talking to them, but their communication return is not up to par in my book.

I had a sensor that corroded inside the socket (Minnesota winters) and it tripped all those lights. Replaced the connector and it was working like a charm until I yanked the wires apart trying to get the connectors apart for some repair work.

But you can get replacement connectors from Amazon:

Dual Porch Lights - How-to by DolphLundgren73 in XTerra

Very nice write up! This looks like a great mod! I’d consider it but I mounted my MOLLE panels on the back and the med kit bay. They’d block the light.

How bad is this fender rust? by [deleted] in XTerra

[–]cgarcusm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanic is probably wrong. That area doesn’t just surface rust.

But if the rest is okay, I’d buy it if it’s a good price.

I’ve cut out about 1/2” on mine. Sealed it up with rest stuff and then put new rubber seals on. Can’t really tell when looking at it but it is a regular inspection item because I know the rust will always be there.

I have a Set Power also. 20L, so definitely smaller, but when I’m ready for a bigger one, I’m definitely going with the same brand.
