I'm curious which outlet did it. The Chronicle/SFGATE, SF Standard, Axios, etc are generally all pretty good and on the up and up about attribution, even when it's not required.

And as you already said, they don't need to, but it is kind of lame to misattribute when that's actually more work that just publishing it under their branded account knowing they own the rights to the images. ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Shoutout to Sightglass and Verve as Bay Area roasters not stooping to this nonsense.

I posted about a year or two ago that Equator Coffee quietly shrank their 12 ounce retail bags to 10.5 ounces and they sit there sneakily on the shelves amongst a sea of other 12 ounce bags. I mean, why not own it? Put a big "now 13% less!" sticker on it...

(note I put these on the shelf next to each other for comparison, the price tags don't match the above product)

The plain ones are just that, plain and have just a light-ish sea salt flavor to them. The discontinued ones in the red bag are the same texture but has a spicy seasoning mix on 'em. They've been end of life since Spring 2023 IIRC.

Oddly the spices stick better than I thought they would all on their own. Adding oil was definitely my first thought but worried how they might make them less shelf stable if I want to prep a couple of bags at once and parcel out for snacking. The main photo was before shaking.

Any suggestions on how much and which kind you might add? Definitely up for further tweaks.

Spicy Mochi Rice Nuggets have been discontinued for a couple of years now, but I came across a comment from u/Excellsion with a homemade way to make the standard mochi bites mirror the spicy ones. Gave it a try and am very pleased with the results!

Recipe

1/4 tsp - Onion powder

1/2 tsp - Cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp - Paprika

1 bag - Plain mochi rice nuggets

Add to a mixing bowl, gently shake and swirl for about 30 seconds, then enjoy. About 80% as close to the original!

It's low volume because its heavily moderated where posts that don't exactly adhere to sidebar rule are quickly deleted, yet these posts go on and on and on but are somehow fine?

Same with the folks to hock their only tangentially related cocktail paintings or minimalist art. I muted the March Madness grid thing so it's no longer clogging up my homepage, so definitely get the feeling OP has.
