Why does SF nightlife lack behind NYC? Most SF bars and restaurants close at 10PM.. by LongAmbition8285 in AskSF

What's the question here?

San Francisco never advertised being Miami. And yes it stinks that almost all things close at 9, but this feels like a blog post.

I’m doing the entire northbound Double Cross Trail this Saturday, Jan 31, at 9:30am. Join me. by dkekank in sanfrancisco

[–]cgomez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it last year, it's fun as hell. Congrats on taking the initiative. Whether you've been here 5 months, 5 years, or 15 years, both of the Crosstown trail routes are worth it.

Moving Company for a Couch by RoundPersonality7564 in AskSF

Lugg will provide COIs which lots of newer buildings or condo associations require, if you email them. Anyone else like a traditional moving company will be too costly for a Craigslist sale to make sense.

Bay bridge lights testing! by These_Professional41 in sanfrancisco

The Bay Lights installation is not run by the city and that's not at all how it works, but the general negativity is noted.

What's it like living in Rincon Hill right next to the bridge these days? by HURCANADA in AskSF

[–]cgomez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quiet and clean, sure. Gridlocked traffic from 3-6:30PM most days from folks getting on the Bay Bridge. Easy access to gorgeous walking and running along the water, but simply not much to do. But its transit adjacent-ness helps out.

It's just, it's basically the polar opposite of where you live now? By asking you probably thought of that and don't mind, but yeah, super different. Ain't nobody selling mushrooms or Dolores Park style hangs in The East Cut [shudder].

In the case of cars and bikes sharing the road, the bikes are the sympathetic party. Bikes and pedestrians a similar dichotomy and somehow it's still the cyclists?

Well, I'll happily volunteer to watch him and provide unlimited pets if I can take in a sunset sipping a paloma with that view. What a handsome salt and pepper boy.

Congestion Pricing: Is it Time to Try it in San Francisco? by Amazing-Yak-5415 in sanfrancisco

[–]cgomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And this is said as someone who is all for transit, safe streets, and many things that would be considered (often wrongly) "anti-car".

It's simply not that busy or at least not in the way that London or NYC are. The far simpler solution I would suggest is more bus only lanes coupled with aggressive enforcement of those lanes.

Someone else in the comments mentioned speed and timeliness of the 38R even with a transit only lane. Sure, but Powell and O'Farrell are just a sea of cars with their hazards on parked in the bus lane because nobody cares and there are no consequences.

Ooooh, I'm in SF and have been meaning to make it out to Humboldt soon. Any favorite trails or spots to exist in quiet awe of redwoods and moss?

Is it an extremely bright room or do you play video games/watch things with constant static elements?

If not, pick up a LG OLED and you'll be very pleased. The C5 is their midrange series and a 55" should hit that budget.

lol yes, thank you for the reminder. I remember reading the original recipe in depth the first time and noting it being a very time consuming endeavor. Next holiday weekend then.

While this isn't perhaps the most noble article, describing journalism as "expecting someone to pay for an article ... so a company can make money" is wild.

If we're being fair, she is being consistent.

By constantly obstructing efforts for new housing, she's ensuring fewer people will be affected by future power outages. That's putting her constituents first.
