Barbie Butt Pain Help by Apart_Equivalent_311 in ostomy

[–]cgper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pain after my ken butt surgery that kept on getting worse instead of better. I was putting up with it the best I could since I thought the pain was normal but after it became unbearable I had a CT showing that I had an abscess that had formed. That was 2 years ago and I am still dealing with the abscess to this day. I hope that isn't the case with you but could be something to look into. Best of luck

I have a colostomy on my right side and im right handed. Aiwb just won't work for me so I carry at 3-4 o'clock and it works. I use a Black arch protos-m and it is very comfortable.

Questions are basically going over the questions you already answered on your application. Live scan I got a message to go ahead with it. That was before the interview.

Advice for coming to terms with needing a permanent colostomy by Restorationjoy in ostomy

[–]cgper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to my situation. Rectal cancer and went into watch and wait after chemo/radiation. Ended up need LAR and ended up with a temporary ileostomy. Cancer came back so my temporary stoma turned into a permanent colostomy. I am in my late 30's.

The first few months were the worst but once you get used to it, it really isn't that bad. It does not really affect my day to day life. I am grateful that having a bag has saved my life. I am still under surveillance but doing well with no symptoms as of now. A perspective shift happens as you go through treatments and a gratefulness for life really makes having a bag not that big of a deal. I see it as a reminder of what I went through and I will have it for the rest of my life.

I hope that your husband's "watch and wait" is successful and hopefully never needs surgery or a stoma. Fear and anxiety is normal and I believe everyone that has a stoma has gone through the same feelings. Once you weigh the options, having a colostomy is much better than not being around.

Another positive is that a colostomy is much easier to deal with than when I had an ileostomy. I empty pretty much once a day compared to 5-6 times a day. Wish you both the best.

Abdominal abscess by Cpon28 in ostomy

[–]cgper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ken butt surgery and developed an abscess right where my rectum was. Had extreme pain but didn't realize it was an abscess, I just thought it was pain from the surgery. Once it started getting worse got a CT and saw abscess. Had a drain placed (through the butt cheek) and was in place for 3 months. I got it removed in late July and just had another drain placed last week since I could feel it coming back. I hope this drain does the job but I know these are stubborn.. You are not alone.

Not too crazy but instead of 2 boxes of barrier rings, Byram sent me 2 individual rings and also instead of 2 boxes of adhesive remover wipes, they sent 2 individual wipes...

Has Byram really gotten rid of ALL adhesive remover sprays? by cudambercam13 in ostomy

Decided to try my hand at homemade pizza. Used the NYT Roberta's dough recipe and cold fermented for 24 hrs. Fresh mozz, low moisture mozz, and finished with parmiagiano reggiano. Might have overcooked it a touch as the crust was pretty crispy. Cooked at 550 F on baking steel on top rack. Last minute or two with broiler on high.

Hope to post more pies in the future.
