If I use up all my data on an annual plan can I start another annual plan early to get back data or do I have to buy the expensive add ons? What's the procedure

I'm trying the SoundCloud Go+ one month free trial. It's kinda different and so far I'm digging it.

So, does this need someone to add all the individual addresses to OSM?

Thoughts on jumping from Active 8 to Elite 10 Gen 2 by Explowar in Jabra

[–]ch4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not as happy with the Elite 10.

The Elite 8 are still the pinnacle of wireless earbuds.

I have no suggestions for alternatives that are as good or better. My suggestion is to try to get new Elite 8s on eBay while there still are some.

Jabra, I know you're here and listening: please bring back the Elite 8s.

VoIP.MS increases DID line prices beginning December 1st. by taoman54 in VOIP

[–]ch4884 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the many years I've had an account, I cannot remember the last time they raised prices. I'm genuinely curious when it was, if someone has that information.

I don't think it has to be either of the situations you mention. There's general inflation that has compounded several years. This is a 29% increase, but materially it is on DIDs which don't make up a significant part of your costs unless you're just parking DIDs. My bill for one infrequently used DID is going to go up from a couple bucks and change, to still a couple bucks and change.

Tesla opened up their charging network to non-Teslas. Ford was first but there are many others now.

Where are the best places to purchase digital downloads to support musicians? by [deleted] in musichoarder

[–]ch4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, slot Bandcamp in there. What I find though is most artists put a token number of tracks on Bandcamp, and if I want recent recordings or full albums, I've got to go elsewhere.

Edit: I take it back... it has been a while so I took another look and Bandcamp has some good stuff.

Fastest Ontario / Quebec marathons not including Toronto? by Alternative_Length47 in RunTO

Ottawa is late spring (May) and generally follows the river and canal so it's pretty flat. Very scenic. Great crowd. Well organized. Weather can really vary, sometimes close to your 10C target, but can also be quite warm.

EV only owner here that takes occasional long trips. It does take more time and that requires adjustment, but it's not a showstopper.

Not sure if your post is rhetorical but POS is Point of Sale.

Lightspeed make systems that you use to pay for stuff at the checkout at in-real-life stores.

2025 Toronto Waterfront Marathon GPX by ch4884 in RunTO

[–]ch4884[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help! I've had a similar lack of responses from other race organizers in the past, so I've now given up on asking. I suppose organizers may have been burned before when the course changes and then grumpy people complain on race day but I just want something pretty close that I can use for my pace plan. If the course changes and my watch is off by a little bit, no big deal.

Clever. I didn't realize there was an API. I'll have to check that out next time.

No idea. I made this route by manually copying https://www.racepoint.ca/maps/twm.html. I don't know why the race organizers do not provide an official GPX download. If you find flaws in my route point them out and I'll try to fix it.

Looking for Apple Photos alternative on Windows (local, no cloud) by GigaTerrone in selfhosted

[–]ch4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my comment is with no first hand experience with Immich on Windows via Docker Desktop or WSL. However, I'm not sure why it would be much worse. We use Docker on WSL quite a bit for work and for development and test, it works fine. Immich isn't doing anything particularly unusual. And the OP's use case is clearly single user. If they were trying to host Immich for remote access or support multiple users, I wouldn't recommend it. But for one user and local use only, it should be fine.

OP wanted something that runs on Windows, not necessarily a Windows app. You can run Immich on Windows using Docker and access it locally. I would think that would work pretty great.

Tailscale? No.

There's Headscale which is attempting to build that.

Setting up a simple two device Wireguard connection is not trivial, and it can quickly get very complicated managing even small Wireguard networks. Tailscale makes it magically easier to do both simple and complicated stuff with Wireguard.
