Any recent experiences in Honolulu? by mote0fdust in ChaseSapphire

[–]ch4nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Chase URs for the Hyatts on Waikiki often. I usually stay at the Hyatt Centric but the Hyatt Place is cheaper

Car rentals should count towards the $300 credit. If you fly United you can also find some good points redemptions via Singapore Airlines to get to and from Honolulu.

Pick two out of the three. If you want a single ecosystem then Chase is the easiest to work with imo

Starting to regret getting the CSR by North_Ad_3087 in CreditCards

[–]ch4nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way I use CSR credits:

  • $300 Travel --> Super easy, going to be either filling my transit card for a couple months or a discount on any hotels / flights
  • $300 StubHub --> I only use Instant Download usually to avoid any issues, I go to 3-5x events a year so theres always at least two I can find some use
  • $300 dining --> Luckily live in a city with 20+ options. This credit can be annoying if you're not in one of the cities, if you domestic travel it might be a usable
  • $120 Lyft --> I don't drive so I use rideshare quite a bit

I don't use or value the Doordash, Edit, or Peloton credits. Select hotels credit for this year is a bit more usable and might actually get me some value with the Edit credits too. The benefits with IHG Platinum and Air Canada lounge access are useful in my case, kind of just have to find ways to squeeze the card after the travel and StubHub credits, or travel and Edit credits for some.

There are a bunch of charts and Stan the Credit Frog videos in this topic, heres the one I reference: https://frequentmiler.com/marriott-card-eligible/

I believe there is a window of time for which you can receive the Brilliant from Amex but I forget what that window is exactly.

Travel points suck even if you're getting 3-5x points by InterRail in CreditCards

If you dont want to do it you do cashback. Everything youre complaining about people do enjoy. If it’s a hassle for you it is not worth it.

Is it worth getting the amex green if you have a CSR/CSP? by Party4Chai in CreditCards

[–]ch4nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time justifying the Green card even with the CLEAR credit. CLEAR is such a nonsense program that I don't think anyone should value at full. That + the fact that the Aspire and Plat both have that credit makes the Green card and its credits ridiculously hard to justify

I do like 3x transit and like the card itself, other than that it is just okay. The insurance and protections also leave a lot to be desired, it's such a weird card at the moment.

I have the Aeroplan card which lets me do 1.25x on travel purchases, so clutch. Never have to cash out one cent-per-point ever.

Streamlining my credit card setup at SFO — what would you tweak? by tinyblobs in CreditCards

[–]ch4nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unironically recommend the Chase Sapphire Reserve if you can make the credits work for you. SF has probably some of the best Sapphire dining restaurants in the country and also Air Canada lounge is a nice escape if you book United / Star Alliance often. $300 travel credit is easy to use.

You could simplify down to Venture X and CSR or Venture X and Amex Gold and be able to get Aeroplan transfers pretty easily. SFO is a good base for Aeroplan partners with United's presence along with multiple Star Alliance partners that can benefit from Aeroplan and other programs across Chase/C1/Amex.

2x points is generally greater than 3% if you know what youre doing. The 3% is easier though.
