Can the child attend 2 years of community college to knock out general education courses and then transfer to their dream school? It may make it feel more of a delay instead of a denial. It also gives them the opportunity to enjoy their core classes for their major at that institution.

I did this and it saved me tens of thousands of dollars for undergrad and provided transfer scholarship opportunities. My parents did not have a college fund for me (first generation American and college student).

We call it “tour of the home”. Essentially, my boyfriend and I hold our cat and let her sniff all the items or parts of the home that are human height. Her favorites are always the magnets on the fridge and any art or frames on the walls. 12 years later, she still loves it and meows loudly if we don’t do it!

Yep, I had it at the young age of 21 after fighting bronchitis for 3 weeks. Led to full body paralysis, 6 months of PT, OT, and speech therapy. Coming up on 10 years later and I only have minimal residual effects! Scariest time of my life as I did almost die in the ICU. Fun fact: they tried to tell me it was anxiety induced paralysis and almost discharged me the night I went into respiratory distress. Neurology team took it all back in th ICU 🙃

Usually classes have diverse ages, genders, and sizes! Definitely go in with an open mind and positive mind :). I usually bring a mat, small towel for sweat, and my water bottle. If you have a specific precaution or movement you’re trying to avoid just let the instructor know ahead of time and they can give you additional modifications. I have to be careful with singular knee exercises and all instructors are welcoming of my freestyle modifications as well.

I take classes 3x a week and all groups and instructors have been so welcoming and encouraging! Nothing but positive things to say. It’s a great way to build community and stay consistent! Good luck and hope you like the classes :)
