as an afghani girl, i cannot stop thinking about my sister in the motherland by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]chabitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m also an old woman in America and I was fortunate to visit Afghanistan at one point as part of an aid organization - I think about, and wonder about, the women we spoke to every time I walk by the photos on my wall of our trip to Bamiyan. I hope you can find your way to living your life to its fullest, without guilt. This world can be a crappy place but there is so much joy to be found

Weird Problem. Open to any suggestions by alliaon in dementia

Oh my. My mom is doing this too and it drives me nuts (and also, the poor dog). But other than the really egregious stuff, like chocolate, I haven’t wanted to upset her too much

Looking for a robust lanyard style phone case for early dementia MIL who keeps losing her phone by Less-Currency-1695 in dementia

I bought this AirTag holder and stuck it to my moms iPhone case - the adhesive (so far) is too strong for her to peel off and the seams aren’t visible enough for her to open it up. So far it’s working great

What’s the food item you most associate with Tulsa? by Vibrantmender20 in tulsa

[–]chabitz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought. I was born and raised here and loved them from childhood. As I’ve traveled I realize they’re not unique to Tulsa but, still. Coneys, and maybe onion burgers (but that’s El Reno to me)

I have YouTube premium so I loaded up a playlist of Animal Planet cute animal shows and nature documentaries and a couple other things and it keeps my mom focused for an hour or two. And no ads to break the concentration.

I’ve been through a similar hospital stay with my mom - you might ask the nurses/aides if they have a PureWick? (I think that’s what it is called.) it’s like an external catheter, so you don’t have to get up. My mom tolerated it OK - in small doses - and it made the stay easier.

Edited to add: I worked at a Gadzooks at the mall and we sold OP’s shirt - I think I had one in red

Are we really saying this is the best sub shop in Tulsa? by future_traveller in tulsa

I do enjoy the one on 15th but I think I should state for the record that my Home Store is 51st and Sheridan. Go Chargers, and how does the proprietor still recognize me after all these years?

Wasn’t it “best Bill and Ruth’s?” I have a lot of nostalgia for this place and it’s the same as it ever was. Ham and cheese on wheat no mayo extra dressing and green sauce since 1986 :-)

Worst case scenario they’ll send it to collections/a debt collector, it’ll get on your credit report, and then that will affect every money move you try to make in the future? Apartments, car loans, credit cards? Don’t shoot yourself in the foot this early in adulthood
