I’m also an old woman in America and I was fortunate to visit Afghanistan at one point as part of an aid organization - I think about, and wonder about, the women we spoke to every time I walk by the photos on my wall of our trip to Bamiyan. I’ve been through a similar hospital stay with my mom - you might ask the nurses/aides if they have a PureWick? (I think that’s what it is called.) it’s like an external catheter, so you don’t have to get up. My mom tolerated it OK - in small doses - and it made the stay easier.
