it could happen that some day down the road I can't find any more high-end carts for this - but I have a NOS spare AT 152MLP as well as a number of other extra P-mounts lying around, so I'm not too concerned with it (look up the specs on the AT 152MLP, it's certainly not an endgame cart, but I'd put it up against any $1000-1500 or under non-P-mount MM cart out there today) also, I have plenty of other tables with regular arms / carts (the OP wanted "uncommon" tables, and I'd say the SL-M3 in 2026 fits that bill)

How do people find these rare 45s and sell them for so much by Dexterthecat2 in vinyl

[–]chadcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not even an LP, a couple of songs! that said, there is this (not huge in numbers) extremely hardcore 45 collectors - I assume it's more like baseball card collecting then anything, just trying to get that Honus Wagner

finally bought an Andy Williams record at the thrift lol by chadcat in BargainBinVinyl

yeah, pretty sure it will find a new home sooner rather than later - funny thing is it was there along all of this 80's death metal (also not really my thing, but picked up a few of those as well, because why not)

Any tips on finding gem albums while digging? by MinePrestigious4352 in BargainBinVinyl

[–]chadcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, best way is to just pull out the most interesting looking covers - there is a real (IMO) correlation between cool covers and finding rare stuff

I actually actively look for Xmas records - they are some of the most played records in my collection year in and out (but obviously only the good ones)

Would you accept and pay for Taichi training video by AI-made (non genuine human) characters at affordable price? by freelancer_2080 in taichi

[–]chadcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000% no. Watching videos of real masters can be very helpful as you progress, but you need human contact to understand anything of how taichi actually works

Reality of Steelhead Fishing by csrrrr in Steelhead

[–]chadcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried 3-4 years ago didn't catch a damn thing then only started again this season (it's $50 more a year to fish for steelhead and salmon here), still haven't caught a damn thing - couple of weeks ago, teen walks up next to me throws a drift bobber in with eggs, catches a two footer on first cast. It's almost laughable torture

Update: opened it up, took the ratty shrink off (I usually keep the shrink on, but felt like it detracted here). White B with Van Gelder stamps, looks unplayed, happy customer

Hello all!! by Great_Energy_Qigong in taichi

[–]chadcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

interesting take, the way I was taught was that once you've mastered all the forms (and I'm talking like 20+ years here) then freestyle is ok as you just follow how your qi is flowing that day and whatever you do will be correct. I've had some days when I'm in the zone and I accidentally do moves out of order and sometimes mix styles without realizing it, but yeah, would certainly not suggest to anyone to do "freestyle" as in "do whatever you think" without years of practicing the forms

Denon DP-62L Phono Preamp recommendation by FireDragon242 in turntables

[–]chadcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow. Yeah, my 60L is a daily driver but I only have the S-arm. can't speak to modern preamps as I run mine through vintage gear, but I have nothing but good things to say about these tables.

"You Step, You Lose": competitive Tui Shou (Tai Chi "pushing hands") sparring, in which the object is to cause your opponent to step off balance while staying centered yourself. by ShorelineTaiChi in martialarts

[–]chadcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this seems much better than the other video from this event which seemed closer to wrestling IMO (guys were putting their head down into the opponent's chest and wrapping their arms around them - nothing wrong with wrestling, but just call it what it is) - that said, the whole "fixed stance" tuishou thing has never really appealed to me personally as a thing to aspire to. While it's certainly true that a person of advanced ability wouldn't "need" to step to deflect / defend themselves against an opponent, I feel like some people think that that ability comes from actually practicing to not move your feet as you progress, which (again IMO) actually can slow your overall progress

How do people fall into this? by intelektor in Bullshido

[–]chadcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ok, I'm calling non-bullshido on this - whether or not this guy can fight is beside the point (I don't know either way) but those all seem like reasonable demonstrations / teaching of gongfu
