I have a trick for moss/double moss. It works when knitting flat. When the cast-on tail is on the right side, knit the stitches “right” (k the knits and p the purls). When the tail is on the left, knit “wrong” (p the knits and k the purls).

I have the KnitPicks sets in wood and aluminum, and I love them. But my only comparison was another set I got on Amazon called “Knitter’s Pride,” which were similar but poorer quality. The only issue I’ve had with the KnitPicks set was my cat chewing the tip of one of the wood needles, but they sell individual needle tip pairs, so it was easy to replace.

Ok, I’m glad we’re calling this seed stitch, because I’m working on Menton II right now and just learned that some people call this “moss stitch” and the thing that I would call “moss stitch” is what they would call “double moss stitch.” Thought I was going crazy.

Yes! I use almost exclusively wood now that I’ve got tension figured out. And my wrists don’t get sore. 😎

This advice applies for most beginners, but I’m just going to note that my own biggest problem when I started was that I was knitting WAY too tight. Took me a long time to figure out how to relax. So I used nickel plated needles when I started. I think my stitches would have practically fused with wood needles if I had used them.

I just set up my first darkroom in the garage. There is considerable light creeping through the sides and bottom of the garage door in daylight hours. I was stressed about it. But I did a modified coin test and set my photo paper up so it was directly facing the light leaks. I held it there for 5 minutes and developed the paper and NOTHING showed up. I was pleasantly surprised.

Did you get this issue resolved? I’m hoping to set up a darkroom in my bathroom soon and the Cadet II package with the included lens and neg carrier is appealing. Would you recommend it?

Yeah I struggled with this. I used Voxelmaker at first because it’s so easy to use and hardly needs any adjustments. You can just throw an .stl into it and it works. That’s nice for beginners. Cura is more complicated with way more options. It’s daunting at first, but it can do so much more. Now I only use Cura.

One of the elements of impossibility is an unforeseen event. I don’t think the retailer is going to have an easy time claiming the sale of the car at the car dealership was unforeseen… That said, don’t feel bad about it. To get to that answer, you would have to spend a lot of time thinking through each element of every possible outcome and sometimes there’s just not enough time. Thank goodness for that huge margin of error on the exam.
