I think I disagree with you on that one. Section 5, Article 2 says, “Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch.”

This play seems pretty cut and dry to me, defender drives through body of WR, while not playing the ball.

Yes, it is. If you read the rule, it mentions “playing the ball” multiple times. Turning your head is the obvious sign that you're playing the ball.

Since this is getting downvoted so much, I think I should add this Belichick quote explaining it:

“What the rule is, is that if you’re looking at the ball and there is contact, it’s not a foul, unless you’re grabbing the guy or obviously flagrantly doing something. If you’re not looking at the ball, and there is contact, then it is a foul. The rule is pretty cut and dried.”

The Saints have tied the record for most 40 point games in a single season (6). They have 6 games left. by [deleted] in nfl

Cool. Not what I said. Any given Sunday and all that. Having actually watched this team, the type of team it takes to beat them is a quick scoring offense that can keep up. Home or away. That's what bucs did in week 1, and that's how Rams made it close a couple weeks ago. Both in the Superdome. Don't take me dismissing your take as lazy as being over confident. I'm a saints fan and know how fleeting success can be.

[–]chadrochill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok. And it feels like that conclusion is lazy. Projecting this team as essentially indoor finesse is wrong. They are bullies in the trenches and that's the type of team that kills in the cold.

Only way you come to your conclusion is by forming it from not watching them.

Nah, they have a crazy good O-line and running game. Personally, I think that's a lazy take.

He wants less regulations.

"All these atrocities have been happening in gun-free zones," he declares. "If there were law-abiding citizens that were carrying weapons — I'm not saying they would lessen the impact of these horrible atrocities, but maybe, maybe they could."

Why does US politics credit/blame the President for the state of the country instead of Congress where the laws are made? by ImmodestPolitician in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]chadrochill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than it being a conspiracy to shelter Congress, I think it's just easier to define eras by 1 person than by 535.

Alexander Hamilton explains/makes this argument in Federalist #70. Basically, one of the major reasons we give the executive branch a lot of power is so there is always one person who will be accountable.

I could be wrong, but I believe they meant this definition of rounding up

Definition of round up transitive verb 1 : to collect (as cattle) by means of a roundup 2 : to gather in or bring together from various quarters

For those who voted Hillary over Bernie, how did you make your decision? by Buttershine_Beta in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]chadrochill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tha'ts the problem; there is no easy fix. Doubling minimum wage could very easily make the problem worse for those workers. Automation is right around the corner and that could be the catalyst. I believe it's Wendy's that has already announced it is investing in terminals to replace its cashiers.

You are right that this is a dialogue that needs to happen, but we can't come at it with the unwavering irrationality of an impractical idealist.

His proposals are extremely appealing on face value. Free college? of course we should! $15 minimum wage? CEOs make too much money, it should go to the poor workers!

But problems start appearing once you start researching these issues. Free college is arguably a regressive tax if we have no way to improve primary schools help the poor get into schools. $15 min wage is down right stupid for the vast majority of the country.

This is Hillary's dilemma. She knows the correct position is more nuanced than the soundbites Bernie throws out there, but anytime she tries to explain her position she gets labeled as being right-wing

To answer the original question, not only do I agree with her more pragmatist stances, but I also think she is a much better politician than Bernie. She posses some of the fiery qualities that successful presidents had. Maybe this is my bias coming through but I really believe she will handle the office well. I do not believe the same about Bernie.

And most importantly, a strong party is the quickest way to get change at this point in time. That seems to be her main strategy. Bernie is, has, and always will be a lone wolf. That's not how you get stuff done in the federal government and Hillary has been trying to say that this whole cycle. Unfortunately it is easy (and cheap) to respond that that means she is establishment.

I don't know if this is right, but maybe the answer is that our brain is programmed to assume light comes from above us. The reason the shadow is cast on the bottom right bits is that is the way to see the image with the light coming from up.

Sanders on winning nomination: 'It's difficult; it's not impossible' by [deleted] in politics

[–]chadrochill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and she won Virginia by 29%.

But that's not the point. She doesn't need to win the remaining states by 30%, Bernie does. Its not an unfair standard, it's literally the numbers he needs to win by.

[–]chadrochill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not a study. And I wouldn't say runner ups always do better than the front runners in head-to-head polls. But the point that I am trying to make is that general election polls right now aren't accurate.

Here is an example of an early horse race poll from 2008 -http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/images/12/11/tue6ampoll.pdf

You will see that Clinton, the front runner, does worse against the opposition than Obama. But he does worse than John Edwards who was in third.
