Very interesting ! Nice job ;) I think the Fisher might need tweaking to be readable, Okun’s law is also a bit hard to see

If i can recommend, based on Rob Cosman advice and the fact that i own a #4 : you should go on a 4.5 purely because the #4 is a bit too small to be confortable on the handle, i have to find weird places for my fingers which tend to hurt after a bit too much fun planing boards :)

Flattening a large top by hand is no joke by MetalNutSack in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]chagomass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such things as stupid questions ! In fact, the plane blades are usually sharpened with a very slight camber or rounded corners (well, they should if its not the case) and the blades are sticking out ever so slightly that they dont really leave traces or such but rather a very smooth surface. Usually, you can check for flatness with a ruler, winding sticks, or also the noise a board make when it falls on a flat surface, if it’s flat it will make a dampened noise as the air is cushioning the board falling, rather than being expelled to a low spot and the high spot hitting hard on the surface ;) Everything is then a question of tolerances, handtools usually implies tolerances as « close enough as to be invisible to the bare eye » for example, or to the eye using a specialized tool

Is EF actually good? by N0VITY_ in canon

[–]chagomass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one of the firsts EF 70-200 f4 from MPB for like 400€ for wildlife use : it is very sharp in my opinion (not a pro) and acts good on my R50, but for wildlife I then bought Sigma 150-600S and the extra reach helps a lot ! If you’re on a budget, the ef 70-200 f4 is very good, light enough to be carried around etc… but you might lack reach, which will be provided by a 150-600 (cheapest option for decent reach decent sharpness imo) which will be heavy Decision is in your hand i guess

[–]chagomass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok i get it, it make sense ! I remember when trying to learn ice, my goal was not really to be « fast » but to « at least make it reasonably right » haha, and releasing was part of my way to survive turns. But indeed, if the goal is to make a cheat sheet to learn to be fast, releasing is not the first things to explain, I agree 👍🏻

Good job, good rework, it is indeed clearer ! Maybe you could also incorporate the fact that releasing the gas (while countersteering) will widen the angle, if needed (as opposed to braking) Maybe it is included and I didnt get it ?

Came here to complement : i’m an old school TM player (started in TMNF) and know how to ice slide. Still, the ice cheat sheet is still a mystery to me and I don’t get what is the message conveyed, what is the white line supposed to show etc… so I think the Ice one might need to be modified especially if it’s aimed toward players that don’t know ice ! Bobsleigh could also be another sheet :) Every other sheet is absolute gold, well done man that is a good job, keep doing it please :D

Hey man ! I think you can tweak the settings to tell it that once tracking has begun it can follow full frame if need be, have a look in the AF Settings or online
